Credit Acceptance is continuously expanding with a variety of dynamic opportunities in Information Technology. Our IT department provides the opportunity to work with progressive tools, and technology including the latest database, development, storage, and computer technologies available.

About this Position: The Manager, Application Development provides development team leadership and drives architecture to improve reliability and performance of Collections Applications. This role will:

  • Lead a team to support and enhance Collections applications

  • Develop architecture and migration plans to move away from legacy technology towards a services based architecture

  • Act as a consultant, coach, mentor in the design of new technology solutions

  • Build consensus toward best practices; offer and accept insight from others

  • Collect, filter and prioritize work from the various stakeholders

  • Deliver projects and enhancements on schedule and specifications

  • Minimize production support incidents

  • Recognize upstream and downstream impacts; communicate effectively (verbally & in writing)

  • Decrease incidents and increase up-time of your application

Outcomes & Activities:

  • Build an application team with the right people and the right number of people under a strong organization design

  • Give each team member a clear expectation of what he/she must do to succeed

  • Train team members to use tools and processes efficiently. Encourage formal training where appropriate. Develop an effective training plan for team members

  • Provide support, tools and training to help team members improve performance. Address substandard performance appropriately

  • Create a work atmosphere that encourages open discussion, where employees are engaged, motivated and have trust in their leader's vision, ability and integrity

  • Improve your application and team processes to provide excellent customer service

  • All other duties as assigned

  • Attendance as required by department

  • Remain compliant with our policies, processes and legal guidelines

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Systems or a closely-related field of study

  • 5+ years' development experience to include Java Application Development experience

  • Experience in Java, Spring, source control, web services, Maven, JSON

  • Strong supervisory experience leading developers and guiding team members regarding best practices

  • Experience decomposing requirements into services-based architectures

  • 7+ years' IT professional experience

  • Communicate effectively (both in writing and verbally) with all levels

  • Experience leading 2+ projects of medium complexity

  • Strong organizational skills

  • Work onsite at the assigned Credit Acceptance work location

Preferred:

  • Experience with an integration framework or ESB platform, such as Camel

  • Experience with annotations and JPA

  • Experience managing people, process and technology

  • Financial Services Industry experience

  • Experience with using Jira to manage and report development progress

  • Experience with Intersystems Cache' database and/or Ontario Systems Artiva Collections platform

Target Compensation: $125,507 - $146,425
