POSITION PURPOSE

PDI is seeking an Analytical Laboratory Manager to elevate our scientific credentials and provide support excellence to new product development in disinfection and antisepsis.

The role supports new and existing product development with input across all facets of project progression including project planning, method development, method validation and registration testing to meet regulatory requirements. In addition, developing new capabilities that enhance PDIs scientific acumen to provide a competitive edge in the healthcare and food service marketplace.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES

a. Efficient resource deployment in partnership with key stakeholders.

b. Manage the laboratory in terms of supplies, equipment, workflow, health and safety.

c. Partner with Industry and/or Academia to manage work overflow and investigational studies.

d. Actively seek new partnerships in both technologies and testing support.

e. Streamline workflow processes

f. Manage capacity restrictions through planning excellence and despite the challenges of a dynamic set of projects.

g. Develop and grow a dedicated group of scientists.

h. Manage performance metrics. Ability to assess individual performance and behaviors against PDIs core values.

i. Cross functional communication across Quality Control, Quality, Regulatory and Product Development.

j. Core team member to the Marketed Product Support Team.

Requirements

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:

  • Advanced Degree in Chemistry
  • Ph.D. preferred
  • Regulated background in either FDA or EPA environment
  • REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE:

  • Rich Chemistry understanding.
  • Demonstrate understanding of Good Laboratory Practices.
  • Strategic thinking in a competitive landscape.
  • EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • 7+ years of R&D working experience
  • Laboratory Management
  • Team Management
  • Resource/project Planning
  • Previous experience of wipes advantageous.
  • Previous experience within the Healthcare advantageous.
  • SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Demonstrated ability to lead others.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal / written). Ability to explain science to management.
  • Prudent risk taker. Identifies opportunities and takes risks to achieve objectives.
  • Able to work on multiple projects of varying complexity.

    NONE: About 10% Lab and 90% office environment

POSITION PURPOSE This Sr. Scientist will work independently to lead R&D analytical projects with minimal guidance. The incumbent work closely with other analytical team members, formulation scientists and regulatory teams to support the development of new products, product upgrades and cost savings initiatives. The primary function of this position is: design the experiments, develop and validate analytical test methods, draft protocol and write report, organize and perform the validation and stability studies. Also, train and supervise two team members. With a new corporate building and all newly designed laboratories around the corner, now is a great time to join PDI and be the difference. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT: a. Design experiments, develop and validate analytical test methods and procedures. b. Draft test method SOP, validation and project reports. c. Supervise one scientist and technician to perform tests or execute protocols. d. Lead the method validation and stability study projects. e. Trouble shootings for analytical tests, methods and instruments. f. Work with external partners to perform investigative research g. Propose how the laboratory can expand capabilities with new instruments and techniques FORMULATION AND REGULATORY SUPPORT: a. Help formulators to design experiments to test product prototypes. b. Provide analytical supports to regulatory. PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENTS 1. Demonstrate excellent research skills – able to give innovative solutions to solve research problems and difficulties. 2. Able to prioritize and manage projects, supervise junior scientists efficiently. 3. Design and finish method development/validation and other research project timely with minimum guidance. 4. Lead and organize stability studies to get project done successfully while meets deadline. 5. Willing to exchange research skills/ideas, train junior scientist and demonstrate high level of professionalism and the positive influences on others. 6. Able to communicate and cooperate with other team members and cross function teams effectively. Requirements QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION: BS Degree in Science or Engineering required. Masters / Ph.D. an advantage. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE: Proficient with a variety of analytical instrumentation such as HPLC, GC LC-MS and titrations Familiar with EPA and ICH guidelines. EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: 7+ years of EPA and/or OTC product development experience. Experience on working in GLP/GMP laboratory facilities. Supervisory experience required. Previous experience of wipes advantageous. SKILLS/ABILITIES: Excellent research skills such as experimental design and solving research difficulties. Able to draft experimental protocol and write research reports. Proficient with analytical test method development and validation, and stability studies. Work independently and lead projects to meet timeline. Able to work on multiple projects in a fast pace environment with cross function teams. Good organization and training skills. Excellent communication skills (verbal/written): able to explain complex issues to non-technical people. Computer literate (Outlook / Word / Excel).
