What you will be doing

This manager oversees the daily operations of the Allowance Billing Department. The team has many years of experience and are passionate about their work. This team reviews promotional offers, verifies for accuracy and bills accordingly. The manager will work closely with the team, Department Leadership, Division and National Merchandising teams, NASC Accounting, Retail, Audit, IT and HR.

The position will be based in Phoenix, AZ.

Main responsibilities

  • Manage the daily operations of the department.

  • Answer questions and resolve issues with vendors, division personnel and merchandising personnel.

  • Train, motivate, lead and develop Allowance Billing associates.

  • Ensure accuracy and consistency of Allowance Billing department: review promotional offers to verify that everything is billed correctly.

  • Review period end accruals to ensure they are complete and accurate. Participate in internal and external Sarbanes-Oxley testing/audits as well as financial audits.

  • Ensure reporting and billing deadlines are met.

  • Close the accounting books in an accurate and timely manner. Oversee upload and period end journal entry process.

  • Help establish efficiencies in the billing area.

  • Participate in projects that will impact the Billing area.

  • Work closely with the other Billing managers to ensure consistency across the teams.

What we are searching for

  • Experience/knowledge of promotional allowances (Marketing) preferred but not required

  • Good theoretical and practical knowledge of GAAP

  • Strong organizational and analytical skills with ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines

  • Advanced level PC skills with knowledge of databases, Windows and Microsoft Office products

  • High degree of initiative, accuracy and adaptability

  • Strong leadership skills

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral

  • Ability to meet rigid time constraints

  • Honest and trustworthy, exhibiting the strongest business ethics

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and desire to be a team player

We believe the successful candidate has these qualifications and experience:

  • Four-year Business degree (preferably Accounting)

  • Four or more years' experience in a supervisory or lead role preferred

  • Five or more years accounting experience in a large organization
