We are currently seeking a Manager, Accreditation and Education Compliance to work in our Waltham, MA office.
The Manager, Accreditation and Education Compliance is responsible for ensuring that all MMS accredited educational activities are in compliance with the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) Accreditation Criteria and policies, with AMA core requirements, and with other accrediting body standards and regulations as applicable. This position develops, manages, and implements continuing education/professional development compliance policies, standards and regulations, and periodically monitors activities to ensure adherence to accreditation and compliance policies and procedures. S/he oversees annual and term accreditation reporting processes for all accrediting bodies and has final responsibility for ensuring data accuracy and timely submittals to appropriate accrediting bodies. The Manager, Accreditation and Education Compliance plays an important role in the certification of educational activities for physicians and other healthcare professionals as well as educational activities that may be accredited internationally.
Working with the Director of Accreditation and Recognition and education team, collects information needed to write the self-study report, writes and edits the self-study report, prepares the activity files, and participates in the survey interview for the ACCME reaccreditation process.
Reviews all accredited activities and develops strategy to demonstrate compliance with all ACCME Accreditation Criteria and policies and with other accrediting bodies requirements as applicable.
Serves as staff liaison to the MMS Committee on Continuing Education Review (CCER). Provides guidance to ensure that proposed educational activities are appropriate for AMA PRA Category 1 Credit and are in compliance with CME standards/regulations/criteria. Works with the CCER to manage the approval process for new activities and make recommendations for improvement. Reviews and updates documentation for submittals to the Committee for credit approval. Establishes submittal processes, responsibilities, criteria and deadlines on an annual basis. Maintains ongoing communication between the CCER and activity planners.
Determines eligibility for and calculates number of AMA PRA Category 1 Credits and MOC Part II Lifelong Learning and Self-Assessment Credits/Points for approved continuing education activities and for other types of credits for other accrediting bodies as appropriate. Determines whether the activity meets the requirements for the MA Board of Registration in Medicine's credits in risk management and other state mandated content requirements. Presents information to the CCER.
Develops processes and procedures for collecting, identifying and resolving conflicts of interest for all individuals in control of content for all MMS accredited educational activities. Reviews disclosure information and identifies potential COI for all individuals in control of education content. Devises and implements a mechanism for COI resolution. Develops and reviews Disclosure Statements or other documentation to communicate disclosure information to the learners prior to the CME activity for compliance with CME standards and regulations.
Reviews all Letters of Agreement for Commercial Support for compliance with ACCME Standards for Commercial Support: Standards to Ensure Independence in CME Activities.
Reviews, approves, and monitors all marketing materials and communications for all MMS accredited educational activities. Ensures that copies of all marketing/promotional materials are saved in the appropriate activity files.
Researches, develops, implements and updates MMS policies and procedures to ensure organization-wide compliance with national and state continuing education/professional development standards and regulations for physicians (and other health professionals as warranted).
Provides guidance on all matters relative to compliance with continuing medical education (CME) standards and regulations to MMS staff, activity/program planners, course developers, authors, faculty, and product owners.
Additional responsibilities as assigned.
A Bachelors' degree or equivalent and 5 or more years of related experience are required.
A background in education/adult learning and/or training and strong working knowledge of best practices and policies for Continuing Medical Education are preferred.
ACCME accreditation or reaccreditation experience is essential.
Strong analytical, organizational, interpersonal, communication, project management, prioritization, problem solving and time management skills are important.
A professional, service oriented approach, strong attention to detail and the ability to work well independently as well as in a team environment to complete disparate assignments are essential.
