Wipfli LLP is currently seeking an Accounting Services Manager in the Rockford, IL Office. Under the direction of a Partner or Senior Manager, the Manager is focused on leading & managing client and/or staff relationships and delivery of business advisory services to clients in accordance with leading practices or client preference, and in accordance with company policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Lead & manage business advisory engagements within budget (may include developing a budget for) and deadline expectations

  • Identify, respond to, and resolve client issues working directly with client, or in collaboration with other accountant

  • Manage expectations effectively through clear and continuous communication with the client and/or other accountants

  • Communicate advice and answer questions of other Wipfli associates relating to clients' accounting situations

  • Review of financial reports, preparation of budget, KPI and other management reports

  • Develop strategies and plans for new client opportunities

  • Ensure high quality of delivery and satisfied clients

  • Management and supervision of Accounting staff as well as staff and technology resource planning & management

  • Provide training, direction, supervision and mentoring to other firm associates, as applicable

  • Pursue advancement in business consulting & advisory skills as well as advancement in "soft skill" competencies

  • Proactively seek out new business opportunities by participating in various business development activities, and having a comprehensive understanding of services provided by the firm

Additional Responsibilities

  • May serve as performance coach for 1-5 associates

  • Participate in and provide leadership for firm initiatives and projects

  • Perform and/or support client billing and collections

  • Actively participate in community/ firm activities to develop positive relationships with community leaders and members

Qualifications

Minimum Education Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business

Certification and Licensing

  • None

Previous Experience

  • Requires 5-10 years of job related experience

Specific experience required

  • Management experience of other staff members

  • Prior public accounting experience or controller position

  • Client relationship management in similar accounting setting

  • Experience making recommendations to management

Experience preferred but not required:

  • Business Development Experience

Communication

  • Requires accurate and effective writing and verbal communication to convey information to firm associates and client personnel, including boiling technical matters and jargon into plain English

Technology

  • Proficient in Word, Excel, Adobe, and Outlook and some or all of the following software applications: document management system and accounting packages such as QuickBooks, QBO, Intacct, etc.

Work Relationship and Scope

  • Position will report to the Performance Coach for priority setting and direction. Works closely with clients and firm administration to complete responsibilities. Networks with prospective and current clients, business organizations, and business and community leaders.

Working Conditions

  • Work is generally performed in a pleasant office setting

  • Work can be performed at client site or remotely

  • Position will work approximately 40-45 hours per week

  • Light lifting (less than 10 pounds)

  • Occasional moderate activity requiring walking and/or bending

  • Uses personal vehicle to travel as needed (approximate distance varies)

  • Occasional over-night travel may be required

This includes acquiring resources and coordinating the efforts of team members and third-party contractors or consultants in order to deliver projects according to plan. The Project Manager will also define the assigned projects objectives and oversee quality control through its life cycle. Main Responsibilities: * Plan the project in order to accomplish its goals or produce the deliverables required within constraints such as time, cost and agreed quality standards * Continuously monitor progress in terms of the status of the plan, budget and profitability and report back to the project team, management, and the client or the funding organization weekly * Coordinate schedules and activities, check orders and track progress and results of projects * Partner with Sales Representatives to complete statements of work (SOWs) * Identify, log, analyze and manage potential and actual issues and risks.
