As an Accounting Manager you will be responsible for developing and maintaining accounting principles, practices and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial statements and revenue/expense management. You will supervise a team of 3 local associates and the related offshore associates and is responsible for managing the team to ensure work is properly allocated and completed in a timely and accurate manner. Primary responsibilities will include a multitude of accounting activities such as revenue recognition and expense recognition, general ledger preparation, year end audit support in addition to oversight of monthly and quarterly billing and vendor payments, ensuring timely and accurate processing. You would be expected to lead complex accounting areas with minimal direction, lead projects (which include systems and process implementations), and serve as a technical resource for accounting issues.
The responsibilities of the individual in this position include:
Manage month-end close processes such as review of journal entries and reconciliations performed by on-shore and off-shore personnel. This includes effective review of work performed, ensuring deadlines are met, managing productivity, communicating expectations clearly and effectively, following up timely, and preparing evaluations of work performed.
Perform or review work required in more complex areas of accounting, proactively identify issues and take the lead in their resolution ensuring full follow-through, identify related impacts and coordinate with additional parties as necessary to mitigate risks and ensure regulatory compliance.
Liaise with the business unit and legal/compliance to ensure revenue and expenses are calculated accurately and in accordance with contracts and US GAAP.
Manage the performance of local direct reports including goal setting, performance management, professional development and coaching.
Monitor and analyze work and processes to develop and implement efficient procedures and use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
Support year-end audit requirements by liaising directly with internal and external auditors.
The successful candidate will have extensive demonstrable skills and experiences including the following:
Prior supervisory experience - Individual must have supervised a minimum of 2 - 3 people concurrently, formally or informally, which includes ensuring accuracy of work performed and accountability. Must have delivered feedback formally or informally.
Prior experience with month-end close process in order to understand key processes and interactions.
Proven ability to read technical guidance and come to an accurate conclusion that stands up to external audit. Existing knowledge of accounting issues relevant to the Financial Services Industry is a plus.
Proven ability to perform work accurately and timely, with efficiency, in complex accounting areas.
Proven ability to effectively manage aspects of process or system implementation.
Demonstrated ability to prioritize, manage time, communicate effectively, maintain professionalism under pressure, and effectively negotiate with other groups.
Excellent written and oral communication.

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent required.
CPA license required.
