Job Summary:

Provides leadership and expertise in managing the Blue Diamond Growers' Accounting Department. Ensures monthly financial results are timely and accurate by reviewing the balance sheet, income statement, and adequacy of all accruals. Regularly communicates and interacts with Blue Diamond Growers' senior managers as well as a variety of external advisers. The functions involved are related to the overall management and general business operations of the Accounting Department.

Job Description:

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Leads, trains, and develops the Accounting Department, including but not exclusive to fixed asset accounting, property and foreign tax, subsidiary management, and monitoring and reconciliation of general ledger account activity.

  • Ensures internal and external financial statements are prepared accurately, consistently, and in a timely fashion consistent with U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

  • Interfaces with other departments to ensure accounting activities are accurately reflected and properly flow through the SAP ERP system in accordance with GAAP.

  • Manages preparation of timely, accurate, and relevant financial information for month-end close including review of recurring general ledger account transactions and reconciliations.

  • Liaises with the Finance department, including FP&A and Operations Accounting groups, for monthly reporting and ad-hoc inquiries.

  • Applies a thorough understanding of the financial reporting and general ledger structure by maintaining the general ledger chart of accounts.

  • Safeguards assets by collaborating with the Accounting and Internal Audit departments to ensure processes are in place to establish, monitor, and enforce internal controls.

  • Assists management in identifying opportunities to streamline or implement new procedures to increase timeliness, efficiency, and improve the accuracy of financial records and reporting.

  • Reviews the compilation of miscellaneous sales, use, property, and other related tax returns and surveys.

  • Interfaces with external auditors and tax accountants to ensure timely preparation of requested schedules, estimated state and federal income tax payments, audited financial statements, and state and that federal income tax returns are completed and submitted by mandated deadlines.

  • Evaluates, maintains, and improves current SAP Assessment Cycles and Top Down Distributions to confirm income is appropriately distributed amongst Business Units based on monthly financial results.

  • Leads or participates in interdepartmental and cross-functional projects.

  • Guides the Accounting Department regarding the handling of non-routine reporting transactions.

  • Manages ad-hoc reporting, budget/forecasting activities, and delegation of informational requests from internal clients.

  • Builds strong relationships with internal stakeholders and company leadership.

  • Aligns with Finance leadership to communicate and support overall departmental goals and objectives.

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration with an Accounting or Finance concentration.

  • 6 years of progressive accounting or finance experience.

  • Experience managing/leading a team of accountants.

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license.

  • Current GAAP knowledge.

  • Previous experience managing direct reports.

  • Previous experience with contemporary ERP systems, preferably SAP or comparable.

  • Demonstrate experience identifying and implementing process improvements.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Outlook); advanced skills in Microsoft Excel; experience with Microsoft Visio, Microsoft Project, or Microsoft Access.

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCES (Specialized education, specific software experience, etc.)

  • Experience with Hyperion Essbase.

  • Audit experience is a plus.

  • Self-starter and innovative thinker.

  • Change management and the ability to diligently address all aspects of a business process.

  • Strong analytical disposition with high attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Effective working independently or in a team environment.

  • Strong problem solving and negotiation skills.

  • Desire to learn and face new challenges.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Adaptable to changing environments.
