The manager of the AAV Design and Implementation team guides national infrastructure AAV projects from design to completion, working directly with business and peer technology teams to successfully deliver leading solutions that satisfy business needs, simplifies the IP and transport design landscape and align with T-Mobile's strategic direction. To be successful this role requires strong problem solving, innovative thinking, project planning and proven leadership abilities in an extremely fast paced and rewarding environment. The manager will also provide leadership, drive for business value and results with cross-functional teams including Project Managers, Engineers, Technicians and business leaders via influence and relationship building.

The manager of AAV Design and Implementation will have responsibility for projects focused on the transport network designs to minimize the points of failure within the network, reduce costs, maximize the ability of the team to drive points of failure out of the network resulting in the best customer experience possible. This leader will also have a focus on team development.

The manager of AAV Design and Implementation will have responsibility for projects focused on the Transport network for new sites, as well as Transport changes to existing sites, and includes design and deployment oversight, while controlling costs, developing tools and optimizing processes to maximize the ability of the team to deliver results.   • 10 years of infrastructure design and/or network engineering leadership experience preferred, but would consider 3-5 years of IP experience (Cisco, Lantronix, HP, A10, etc.) along with 3-5 years of wireless transport and voice core engineering experience.

  • Strong leadership, communication, negotiation and consensus building skills.

  • Ability to work independently, manage and deliver multiple projects in parallel while meeting tight deadlines.

  • Proven ability to solve problems creatively and resourcefully.

  • Prior experience managing people within project team..

  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.

  • Good understanding of Transport design and implementation in both TDM and IP environments as well as experience in one or more of the following areas; General networking knowledge including Cisco router and switching products IOS, NXOX, XOS. Network security firewall platforms including Checkpoint and Cisco, DNS Platforms and F5 and A10 products.

  • Must be pro-active and creative in identifying business challenges and matching innovative solutions.

  • Proficient with MS Office Programs and aptitude for learning new software quickly

  • Proven record of demonstrating proper judgment in managing difficult situations.

  • Must have good oral and written communication skills.

  • Must be able to work well under pressure.

  • Must be able to work flexible hours when required.

Qualifications (Desired):

  • Prior responsibilities for preparing detailed engineering design documents for implementation and execution of plans for a transport network and/or IP infrastructure hardware.

  • Experience leading teams through organizational and technology evolution plans.

Education:

  • BA/BS in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, Computer Science and or Business or equivalent work experience, required.
  • MS in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, Computer Science and or related discipline desired. Masters in Business Administration desired.

Responsibilities:

  • Directs and prioritizes the work load of local and remote personnel within the functional group.

  • Help develop, track and drive career development paths for all direct reports to maintain employee development as the team evolves with the technology it supports.

  • Analyzes complex business needs presented by internal user community and/or clients and recommend technical solutions and processes to achieve the desired result.

  • Reviews and approves detailed equipment designs prior to implementing optimized design solutions.

  • Ensures the consistency and maintainability of existing designs by creating, maintaining, and enforcing standards/procedures for implementing technical solutions.

  • Works with operations in executing production tasks according to a documented schedule that meets or exceeds business expectations around asset lifecycle management.

  • Collaborates with Project Managers on detailed project planning and implements effective project controls by monitoring and status reporting for each project.

  • Document existing processes and find areas for improvement through Lean methodologies and automation.

  • Enhance performance of existing networks and processes, identify opportunities for improvement and devise innovative solutions.

  • Create, develop and realize strategic initiatives for their area of the business.

  • Provide expertise and updates to business, design, field, and support teams on network and transport optimization activities.

  • Identify new trends and changes related to network design and adjust team structure to proactively meet these needs through effective lifecycle management.

  • Interface with T-Mobile transport and equipment vendors to drive value to network infrastructure.

  • Performs liaison duties between engineering, operations, and project management personnel in the areas of systems design, modifications or trouble shooting as needed to keep projects and programs ahead of business needs.

  • Advise of needed equipment inventories and provide budgetary guidance for customer optimization initiatives and other network needs.

  • Represent organization during project planning and kickoff phases of major AAV deployment programs.

  • Translate long term architecture strategies into actionable optimization plans.

  • Builds alignment with business and other IP teams on priorities and deliveries against these priorities.

  • Monitor and receive Circuit Turn-up notifications from Vendor/OM group for new installation of new replacement circuit.

  • Verify that circuit is delivered per design including VLAN and NNI assignments.

  • Work with Market AAV team for Ready to Integrate Request generation (RTI).

  • Monitor Dashboard/Market Reports for completion of cutover to new vendor circuit.

  • Prepare reports to show deliver dates of the circuit, downgrades of circuit and disconnect of circuits.
