This position is located in the Southern Region, Region 8 at the Regional Office in Atlanta, GA.
This position serves as the Director of Resource Information Management; providing leadership; formulating Regional policy, standards, procedures and direction for Information Management programs; preparation of program budget; and supervising a staff of employees.

Provide authoritative advice on program area development.
Formulate policies, objectives, standards, programs, plans and procedures associated with the overall management of regional Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
Perform budget planning, execution and monitoring.
Develop short range plans to achieve regional Information Management goals.
Develop long range plans to achieve regional Information Management goals.
Plan the overall work through direct reports, subordinate supervisors, team leaders, or comparable positions.
Provide leadership to accomplish the agency multicultural organization direction, and Equal Opportunity and Civil Rights requirements.
Analyze legislative and/or policy proposals.
Understand current social and/or economic conditions affecting information management programs
Write reports and/or policy papers providing interpretation.
Evaluate complex technical information to prepare written reports.
Occasional travel - Occasional travel for meetings and trainings may be required.

Specialized Experience Requirement:
For the GS-14: You must have one year specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as of the following: Provided counsel to higher organizational levels concerning regional program issues and their current and anticipated effects; exercised direct program responsibilities that included regional or state-wide program development, planning, budgeting, administrative appeals of decisions and litigation, and identifying workforce and organizational needs to establish and meet priorities.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
TIME IN GRADE REQUIREMENT: If you are a current federal employee in the General Schedule (GS) pay plan and applying for a promotion opportunity, you must meet time-in-grade (TIG) requirements of 52 weeks of service at the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the position being filled.
