This position is being established and organizationally aligned under the Office of the Medical Center Director at the Clement J. Zablocki VA Medical Center (VAMC) in Milwaukee, WI. (695) - a Level 1a Complexity VHA Facility. The primary purpose of this position is to perform administrative and management assistance level support to the Fisher House and Temporary Lodging program while coordinating Fisher House and Temporary Lodging activity with other Medical Center departments to assure the continuity of care for patients is not interrupted and providing assistance to assure that the veterans and their families' needs are addressed in a personalized and responsive manner.
Major Duties :
Provides administrative and management assistance/support with the development, execution, review, collection, analysis, and reporting of data for the Fisher House and Temporary Lodging budget, to include reviews on budget status and controls and coordinating the necessary spending adjustments and preparing reports on the status of funds in assigned accounts and activities.
Participates in a variety of Fisher House and Temporary Lodging administrative activities, maintaining various automated databases on program operations such as occupancy, referral source, data pertaining to program census, guest demographics, length of stay, equipment donations, etc., and assists management with development of information bulletins, brochures and resident packets.
Assists the Temporary Lodging Manager in the recording and disseminating of information to guest and interested parties and organizations, and conducts information guest satisfaction surveys and works with the Temporary Lodging manager to improve service.
Provides a monthly report for VISN and/or VACO leadership.
Assists with the day to day operations of the independent 16- room Fisher House and with the 24 bed VAMC Hoptel lodging program.
Greets, orients and provides customer service to veterans and the family members/caregivers of VA patients.
Provides administrative assistance, filing, office coordination, and processing of Fisher House and Hoptel referrals and consults.
Schedules reservations for rooms, oversees the cleanliness and safety of the area, receives and orients guests to the facility, directs and routes guests to the appropriate clinical areas and oversees volunteer staffed projects as assigned by the Fisher House and Temporary Lodging Manager.
Participates in activities that ensure the Fisher House & Hoptel facilities are in compliance with prescribed Environment of Care matters relating to health, safety, fire prevention, and occupational health, privacy and sanitation rules and regulations, and identifies deficiencies with the facility Environment of Care Coordinator concerning equipment, furnishings, tools, materials and supplies, and takes the necessary action on significant problems to remedy them.
Participates in special EOC & Safety projects or studies that valuate, and/or provide recommendations to the facility Environment of Care Coordinator as needed.
Researches and analyzes straightforward problems, issues, or EOC program requirements.
Performs other related duties as assigned.

Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-6 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-5. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. Physical Requirements:The work is primarily sedentary, although some slight physical effort may be required. Manual dexterity is required in operation of personal computer and other office equipment.
