The following are the duties of this position at the GS-13 . If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties, and will receive training to help you grow in this position.
Prepare and conduct program surveys and evaluations to address specific objectives. Perform important segments of the performance audit, review, evaluation or inspection; and identify techniques or methods to use in in gathering data and documentation.
Ensure that work papers are accurate, complete and correct and are prepared in accordance with OAE procedures and the Government Accountability Office Generally Accepted Government Auditing Standards (GAGAS), or the Council of the Inspector General on Integrity and Efficiency Quality Standards for Inspection and Evaluations.
Assign segments of the evaluation, review, inspection or audit to team members. Assess and discuss performance with subordinates, provides on the job training, and coaches and mentors others, as required.
Perform complex studies, research, and detailed analysis for audit topics that potentially lead to high interest projects. Conduct entrance and exit conferences with VA clients and OAE and OIG leadership.
Work with auditors to assess mission-critical issues, programs and functions, and collect information needed to draft recommendations to VA for improvements, organizational changes, corrective actions, and internal controls. Help identify programs and operations that have not achieved results or expected outcomes. Prepare and/or review work ensuring it is sufficient, competent, and includes relevant evidence to support findings. Prepare and conduct written and verbal briefings and assist in writing reports.
25% or less - Travel nationwide under tight deadlines. The incumbent should anticipate frequent walking and standing as a component of this travel.

You may substitute education for specialized experience as follows: 3 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree. You may qualify by a combination of experience and education. This is creditable providing the combination consists of 100% of the requirement. Only graduate level education in excess of 36 semester hours (54 quarter hours) may be combined to be considered for qualifying education.
