WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING HERE AT TEAM RC

The Management Analyst III - Fire Data Analyst provides a truly exciting and unique opportunity to be a part of a growing and evolving organization, where the work that you will do will directly impact the Rancho Cucamonga community. With the addition of the City's eighth fire station, a brand new electric fire engine, and implementation of the Fire District's first ambulance in support of the new Countywide ambulance contract, this position will go beyond data collection and analysis. This position will play a crucial role in the implementation of new Fire District service delivery models by telling a story with the data and providing recommendations on the best use of Fire District emergency response resources.

You'll be responsible for:

  • Conducting a variety of statistical analyses and related research studies using Fire District data.

  • Making recommendations and presenting data to management that will determine service deployment models.

  • Compiling reports and preparing analytical studies on a wide variety of data; developing and preparing charts, graphs, and related material; determining format and method to be used to illustrate data elements.

  • Coordinating the compilation of data for analysis purposes and to review and ensuring accurate data gathering techniques.

  • Creating or modifying computer programming for the statistical analysis of data generated from Fire District activities.

  • Providing technical assistance to Fire District personnel in the planning and conducting of research, and the analysis and interpretation of related data.

  • Collaborating with and/or providing information to other city departments, governmental agencies and private industry regarding Fire District statistical research, analysis and recommendations.

ARE YOU QUALIFIED

Education and/or Experience:

Graduation from college with a Bachelor's degree or coursework in Public Administration, Business Administration, Accounting, or a related field; and four years of responsible governmental administrative experience including two years of supervisory experience or any combination of training and experience that provides the desired knowledge and abilities.

Knowledge of the principles of statistics, research design/methodology and quantitative analysis and experience conducting quantitative or qualitive research and/or statistical analyses is highly desirable. Experience with fire service is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Knowledge of the principles of municipal administration, accounting and auditing, budget and purchasing practices; contract administration and grant administration practices; business and project management principles and program evaluation practices; computer applications in administrative functions; related laws, ordinances and regulations; principles of research, statistical analysis and report preparation; principles, practices and methods of public administration and organizational analysis; supervision theory and practices. Manage and supervise business services, including work of staff; identify business problems, suggest and implement solutions; interpret and apply related regulations and guidelines; analyze data and draw logical conclusions; prepare and maintain accurate financial records and reports, maintain ledgers and journals; supervise, train, motivate and evaluate assigned staff; perform complex professional administrative and analytical work requiring sensitivity to issues; interpret and apply related laws, ordinances and policies; conduct research; prepare and present reports; provide liaison to other City personnel, other agencies and the public; establish and maintain cooperative working relationships; communicate effectively both orally and in writing; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and display a high degree of emotional intelligence.

Special Requirements:

Depending upon assignment, possession of or ability to obtain an appropriate California driver's license and a satisfactory driving record may be required.

Position will require traveling to RCFPD and City facilities, as well as to offsite locations outside of City limits.
