Ideal Candidate
The City of Burlingame is looking for a motivated and detail-oriented candidate to join our Public Works department as a Management Analyst.
Under the general direction from the Senior Management Analyst, the Management Analyst exercises functional supervision over assigned Public Works Corporation Yard projects, programs, and administrative areas. The incumbent must work independently and exercise a great deal of judgment in the completion of confidential and complex administrative duties in support of Corporation Yard staff, Opengov Cartegraph asset management, GIS, other computer-based applications, assigned projects, and conducting problem solving research. The ideal candidate will assist with GIS data management and must have an understanding of how to edit and maintain spatial data in Esri geodatabases. This position will concurrently serve as backup clerical support for the Corporation Yard and Management staff.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Experience: A combination of education and experience that has provided the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary for a Management Analyst. A typical way of obtaining the required qualifications is to possess the equivalent of three years of responsible experience in public administration or contract administration or increasingly responsible experience as a Management Analyst, and a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Business, Public Administration or a related field.
License/Registration: Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid class C California driver's license.

Retirement: CalPERS 2.5% at 55 for Classic members and 2.0% at 62 for New members; Classic members contribute 1.5% of the City's contribution to CalPERS retirement via payroll deduction on a pre-tax basis

SELECTION PROCESS
All applications will be reviewed for relevant education, experience, training and other job related qualifications. Based upon a review of employment applications, supplemental questionnaires, and resumes received, a limited number of appropriately qualified applicants will be invited to participate in the examination process.
The process will consist of an Oral Panel Interview. An eligibility list will be established from those who pass the examination process with a score of 70% or higher. Current and future vacancies may be filled from this list. The list will remain in effect for at least one year unless exhausted sooner.
The department may invite the most qualified candidates from the eligibility list to a department interview. The Public Works Director will make the final appointment. The department may invite the most qualified candidates from the recruitment list to a final department interview. The Department Head will make the final appointment.
Note: The City of Burlingame reserves the right, at its discretion, to limit the number of qualified candidates invited to the selection process.
PRIOR TO APPOINTMENT
Candidates will be required to:
This position has a 12-month probationary period from the date of hire. Whereby, the selected candidate must receive a rating of no less than 'satisfactory' at the end of the probationary period to continue forward with employment. During the 12-month probationary period, the selected candidate can be terminated with, or without cause.
