GENERAL SUMMARY Provides diagnostic imaging services according to accepted standards and protocols and assures patient safety during procedures. FUNCTIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES General Diagnostic Procedures: Performs all diagnostic procedures following policies and procedures established by the department. Adjusts patient care based on age-specific needs. Uses all equipment properly and in a manner that minimizes hazards of electric shock, burns and extraneous radiation to patients. Determines most suitable position and shields patient for optimum imaging and patient comfort. Follows ALARA principle (staff and patient shielding). Explains procedures and responds to questions appropriately. Scans paperwork into the PAC#s System. Maintains working knowledge of the PAC#s System. Demonstrates knowledge of CD Burning. Completes patient charges for each exam in a timely manner. Transports patients to and from the department. Maintains a clean and orderly environment. Special Diagnostic Testing: Demonstrates competency in performing all procedures and use of the equipment for CAT Scans and/or Mammography, as appropriate and assigned. Keeps dose as low as possible to achieve diagnostic exam. Administrative: Uses computer to access reports. Follows protocols for releasing of images. Assists with administrative responsibilities of the department to include scheduling appointments, answering the phone, etc. Performs all quality controls procedures daily as assigned and maintains appropriate logs. Participates in annual surveys and inspections. Able to teach/aid students.
