Hours: Monday-Friday, hours vary between 7:00am-5:00pm, one Saturday day shift a month

Under the supervision of the Manager and Breast Radiologist, a successful applicant will utilize independent judgment and demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of breast procedures, anatomy, and physiology. Be responsible for the variety of breast imaging examinations for the purpose of assisting in a patient's medical diagnosis or screening for cancer.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform mammography procedures in a technically proficient manner. Follow department protocols and specific radiologist direction.
Corroborate patient's clinical history with procedure; assuring information is documented in accordance with the department's standards.
Prepare patient for procedures; providing instructions to obtain desired results, gain cooperation and minimize anxiety.
Select and operate breast imaging equipment and associated devices to achieve desired results.
Position patient and equipment to best demonstrate anatomic area of interest. Explain the need for breast compression while respecting the patient's ability and comfort.
Provide patients with education related to imaging procedures, including breast self-examination.
Apply principles of radiation protection to minimize exposure to patient, self, and others.
Provide hygienic care of all equipment.
Use supplies appropriately to minimize waste and expense.
Applies knowledge and principles of Universal Precautions, aseptic and sterile techniques, to minimize exposure to/spread of infectious organisms.
Other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Demonstrate effective communication and professional behavior with patients, co-workers, physicians, and other health care team members.
Basic computer skills.
Maintains current registry certification, state licensure, and education requirements.
EDUCATION and / or CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE:
Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology Program
Registered Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) with advanced certification in Mammography is required.
Active ARRT certification status maintained by fulfilling continuing education requirements.
Illinois State Licensure (IEMA)
