Hours: Monday-Friday, hours vary between 7:00am-5:00pm, one Saturday day shift a month

Must be able to float to different DMG locations

SUMMARY:

Under the supervision of the Manager and Breast Radiologist, a successful applicant will utilize independent judgment and demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of breast procedures, anatomy, and physiology. Be responsible for the variety of breast imaging examinations for the purpose of assisting in a patient's medical diagnosis or screening for cancer.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform mammography procedures in a technically proficient manner. Follow department protocols and specific radiologist direction.

  • Corroborate patient's clinical history with procedure; assuring information is documented in accordance with the department's standards.

  • Prepare patient for procedures; providing instructions to obtain desired results, gain cooperation and minimize anxiety.

  • Select and operate breast imaging equipment and associated devices to achieve desired results.

  • Position patient and equipment to best demonstrate anatomic area of interest. Explain the need for breast compression while respecting the patient's ability and comfort.

  • Provide patients with education related to imaging procedures, including breast self-examination.

  • Apply principles of radiation protection to minimize exposure to patient, self, and others.

  • Provide hygienic care of all equipment.

  • Use supplies appropriately to minimize waste and expense.

  • Applies knowledge and principles of Universal Precautions, aseptic and sterile techniques, to minimize exposure to/spread of infectious organisms.

  • Other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Demonstrate effective communication and professional behavior with patients, co-workers, physicians, and other health care team members.

  • Basic computer skills.

  • Maintains current registry certification, state licensure, and education requirements.

EDUCATION and / or CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE:

  • Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology Program

  • Registered Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) with advanced certification in Mammography is required.

  • Active ARRT certification status maintained by fulfilling continuing education requirements.

  • Illinois State Licensure (IEMA)

  • CPR Certification

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of two years experience working as a Mammography Technologist performing digital diagnostic/screening exams. Stereotactic biopsy experience preferred.

VIEW JOBS 8/17/2019 12:00:00 AM 2019-11-15T00:00 Hours: Monday-Friday, day shift with occasional weekend hours Location: LIsle, IL SUMMARY: Performs a variety of complex diagnostic MRI procedures, with the primary responsibility of completing diagnostic studies from inception to completion under the direction of the radiologist. This would include, but not limited to: performing routine MRIs and MRAs, taking accurate verbal patient histories and starting I.V.s, to administer IV contrast. Maintain a positive imaging environment for our patients and act as a patient liaison to the radiologist. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: * Performs quality assurance checks on equipment and procedure areas * Ensures proper MRI safety standards are met * Ensures that all ferromagnetic materials are located outside of scan room * Able to explain correct emergency shutdown procedures * Able to properly demonstrate fire and safety evacuations * Patient transfer/transport equipment is checked to ensure compliance with safe operational standards * Operates required equipment necessary to produce scans using established guidelines and MRI protocols * Completes necessary protocolling tasks * Performs ordered examinations according to written MRI protocols * Properly identifies (three unique identifiers). * Introduction to patient is performed using name and role title. * Procedure is explained in laymen's terms using educational/informational aids (books,pamphlets, interpreter, etc.) when necessary. Time is allowed for patient feedback and questions, ensuring all questions are addressed prior to exam start. * Completion of MRI screening forms is verified and information provided is validated. * Starts IV access according to standard procedure and injects media under the direction of a physician. * Appropriate IV site is selected according to exam protocol. * Proper catheter or needle is selected and venipuncture is introduced following established standard precaution guidelines. * Correct IV contrast is selected and correct amount for administration is prepared according to established protocols. * Appropriate injection parameters are selected and injection is monitored according to established guidelines. * Injection amount, IV location and flow rate is recorded on correct documents and appropriate QA documentation (QR reports) is generated when infiltration or reaction occurs. * Prepares and positions patient for procedure by using established MRI protocols to achieve the highest quality image. * Follows quality assurance guidelines and maintains patient confidentiality. * Performs additional duties as required. EDUCATION and / or CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE: * Graduate of an accredited education program in MRI required. * ARRT Registered Technologist, RT(MR) or ARMRIT Certified Technologist required. * BLS -- Basic Life Support, AED Adult & Pediatric CPR required.
