JOB SUMMARY:
Provides Radiologic examinations, including Mammography to patients under the general Supervision of the Medical Director of Imaging Services. Working under general supervision, operates radiographic equipment to produce images of the body, including Breast Imaging for diagnostic purposes. Work will include related tasks that directly support the delivery of care.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION
Education required to achieve mandatory certification
EXPERIENCE
1-year clinical experience with Mammography experience preferred
PREREQUISITE SKILLS
Must be able to demonstrate proficiency in the performance of diagnostic studies for patients of all age groups from infant to geriatrics
Must be able to demonstrate specific competence in the performance of all Mammography related studies and procedures
By their actions, technologists will demonstrate the ability to interact and communicate with all contacts in a professional, caring and effective manner
May occasionally be required to participate with Quality Improvement activities
LICENSE/REGISTRATION/CERTIFICATION:
Must hold current Certification as a Certified Radiologic Technologist pursuant to Section 30451, Title 17 California Code of Regulations
Current certification in Mammography with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) preferred
Current Basic Life Support Certificate
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
ESSENTIAL
Demonstrates competence to perform all imaging procedures as outlined in the department policy and procedure manual
Demonstrates competence in all Breast Imaging procedures including Screening Mammography, Diagnostic Mammography, Biopsy/Needle placement procedures, and minimally invasive studies
Accurately presents patient studies for interpretation. Information will include pertinent clinical history, physician's order, demographics and other data necessary to interpret the exam
Participates in a daily processor quality control program to ensure consistency in imaging results
Communicates equipment issues to management in a timely manner for service resolution
Consistent use of universal precautions in all patient contacts
Demonstrates through actions the ability to effectively use alternative methods to resolve problems as they arise
Regularly interfaces with the Radiology Information System to accurately represent procedural information
Effectively interacts with co-workers and physician in a positive and professional manner
Assists with clerical support functions as needed to most efficiently process patient studies
