POSITION SUMMARY: Under the direction of a Workflow Coordinator, Manager/Supervisor and/or Team Lead, performs or assists in Radiographic and/or mammography procedures at a level that does not require direct supervision over technical detail.# Performs and assists in a variety of technical procedures that require independent judgment, good knowledge of anatomy, positioning, and a thorough technical knowledge of equipment.# Assumes responsibility for a designated area or procedure as may be required. # EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION: Minimum of a high school diploma or GED equivalent. Must pass the American Registry of Radiographic Technologists (AART) National Board and have State of CT License to practice Radiographic technical procedures. On an ongoing basis the incumbent must obtain the mandatory number of Continuing Education Units (CEU#s) needed to maintain the currently of state licensure. Must have certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support upon hire and maintain clinical competency during employment within ECHN in this role.


EXPERIENCE:


Must have at least five (5) years radiology experience.# Two (2) years experience within ECHN is desirable, but not required. # # COMPETENCIES: Must be fully knowledgeable and capable of performing independently in mammography at least two (2) modalities. Must have complete working knowledge of the principles of physics, anatomy, medical terminology, sterile technique and radiation protection as it relates to Radiology practice. Must meet the ECHN age specific knowledge/skill requirement and annually complete ECHN#s mandatory education. Strong written and verbal communication with co-workers and patients using the English language to communicate appropriately and clearly to team leader, co-workers and other members of the health care team.# Bilingual English/Spanish is desirable. Must be able to utilize advanced math skills in physics in order to understand and set the appropriate level of radiologic exposure to the patient and themselves for the process. Works cooperatively to accomplish a task as a member of a team. Exhibits constant awareness of infection control standards. Assists Radiologists on interventional procedures including but not limited to needle localizations, stereotactic biopsies, and breast biopsies. Proficiently conducts routine mammography and radiographic procedures and fluoroscopic exams including gastro intestinal studies, ERCP#s, Arthrography, Hysterosalpingography, Urography, and portable x-ray equipment including C Arm procedures and/or Dexa. Mentors students in the clinical and ethical aspects of the Radiologic Technologist profession. Maintains stock levels and personal protective equipment of assigned stations.
