Swedish Medical Center is looking for a Mammogram Technologist II (0.8 FTE, Days) to work in the Mammography Department at the Swedish Edmonds in Edmonds, WA.

The Mammogram Technologist is responsible a variety of radiological technical procedures specific to the diagnosis and treatment of breast disease in a high volume outpatient setting.

In this position you will:

  • Function as department resource for operation of technical equipment

  • Interact with patient, explaining procedure thoroughly and answering any questions as appropriate

  • Accurately produce mammographic images per protocol, making appropriate technical adjustments for body size and habitus, age, and past medical history

  • In conjunction with the radiologist, perform all departmental special procedures including (but not limited to) ultrasound guided aspirations and cores, stereotactic core biopsy, galactography, needle localizations, and ultrasound exams (in the absence of an ultrasonographer)

Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Successful completion of a formal radiologic technology training program, which meets the requirements for registry by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)

  • Current Washington State Certified Radiologic Technologist-Diagnostic license

  • Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)

  • Current ARRT advanced certification in mammography and ARRT Breast Sonography certification required

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • Two years of full-time mammography experience strongly preferred

The MLT or MT performs assays accurately and timely on patient samples using a variety of automated and manual testing procedures to aid physician in patient diagnosis and treatment. In this position you will: * Maintain established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, safety, environmental and infectious control standards so that the laboratory remains in compliance with accreditation and licensing agencies * Perform assays and evaluates all results for abnormal, critical or alert values before releasing any into the computer, assuring accuracy and completeness of testing * Evaluate results in order to provide physicians, nursing and additional ancillary departments the information necessary to select appropriate treatment * Perform and document quality control, preventive maintenance and trouble shooting on all assays and instruments in the laboratory in accordance with CAP and CLIA regulations to help ensure testing accuracy * Identify emergency or STAT situations in order to maintain the laboratory's responsiveness to life threatening patient situations participating with coworkers, evaluating workflow and prioritizing responsibilities to provide effective patient care * Collect specimens as directed and delivers them to the appropriate areas of the laboratory, using appropriate equipment for collecting and handling the specimen Required qualifications for this position include: * Two-year degree with MLT or equivalent certification (ASCP) OR Bachelor's Degree with MT or equivalent certification (ASCP) Preferred qualifications for this position include: * Demonstrates sensitivity to confidential information * Ability to communicate effectively with physicians, patients and co-workers About the Edmonds Campus.
