Patients Medical Center (PMC) provides inpatient and outpatient medical and surgical services to residents of Pasadena, Deer Park, La Porte, Baytown, and Clear Lake. The facility includes 53 medical/surgical beds, eight ICU beds and three endoscopy rooms, and offers a range of primary and specialized serviceswound care, general surgery, gastroenterology, occupational health, heart and vascular, women's services, diagnostic imaging, outpatient rehab services, and sleep disorders.

Operates specialized mammography, stereotactic biopsy and bone densitometry equipment, Performs direct patient care and Performs a variety of technical procedures to produce images for diagnosis of breast diseases and osteoporosis evaluation.

Minimum Job Qualifications

Minimum Education: Associate's Degree; Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Radiography(R) an Mammography(M); must maintain current; Certified by the Texas Department of Health as Certified Medical Radiologic Technologist MRT; must maintain current; CPR/BLS certification

Minimum years in field previous to employment: One (1) year of experience as a radiologic technologist

Position Responsibilities
1.Selects and modifies positioning of patients and Performs mammographic, stereotactic biopsy, breast pathology localizations and bone density procedures
2.Performs patient education with mammography patients
3.Performs mandatory quality control of radiographic equipment, screens and processing for strict ACR, MQSA and state regulations. Performs daily cleaning of equipment and all necessary information is documented and takes appropriate action. Repeat/reject image analysis is maintained on a daily basis
4.Directly Assists the radiologist with all invasive procedures, documents procedures and renders first aid to patient if needed. Maintains report correlation of biopsy with pathology reports
5.Coordinates with the O.R., central scheduling, physicians or office staff for effective scheduling of the invasive breast procedures.
6.Keeps a par level of supplies stocked and available in the mammography rooms. Orders new supplies as needed
7.Assists with the training of newly hired personnel and clinical training of students
8.Assists in sending all required reports to physicians and patients.

The Medical Technologist is proficient in the following disciplines Hematology, Chemistry, Immunohematology (Blood Bank), POCT and microscopic Urine. 1. Appropriately clocks in/out and returns from break and lunch on time. 3. Adheres to schedule and provides coverage in assigned areas. Adaptable to changes in work flows. 4. All employees will be held accountable for attending training regarding the Code of Conduct program at least annually. 6. Appropriate use and inventory of reagents and supplies (initial/date all opened reagents). 7. Assists in maintaining general cleanliness and safety of work area to ensure that work area is clean and free of safety hazards. 8. Can perform venipuncture and capillary (finger & heel) sticks on infants, children and adults. 9. Expectations Ethics and Compliance: 1. Performs, trouble-shoots and documents instrument maintenance and malfunctions per SOP. 18. Performs/reviews and documents QC per SOP. 19. Print/review/reconcile computer reports as assigned. 20. Prioritizes test procedures per SOP. Performs STAT tests/procedures in timely manner. 21. Promotes teamwork, encourages and supports others, respects co-workers and members of management. 22. Properly identifies patient/specimens using two forms of I.D. (Full Name and Medical Record number, DOB, or Account number) on collection labels to patient's wristband and/or test tube. Properly use of equipment/supplies and collection techniques. 23. Records equipment temperature checks per SOP 24. Successful participation in proficiency and competency testing. License / Certifications / Requirements Certification as MT (ASCP) or equivalent. New Graduates must obtain MT (ASCP) within 180 days of start date.
