Major Gift Officer

Since 1952, Light of Life Rescue Mission has been a safe refuge for homeless and hurting people in the Pittsburgh area.

Job Summary: As a Major Gift Officer, you will play a critical role in advancing the mission of Light of Life by cultivating and stewarding relationships with prospective donors to secure significant financial contributions. You will be responsible for identifying, engaging, and soliciting major gifts through personalized cultivation strategies and effective relationship management.

Key Responsibilities:

• Donor Cultivation and Relationship Management:

• Identify and prioritize major gift prospects from existing donors and external sources.

• Develop and implement personalized cultivation and solicitation strategies for each prospect.

• Build and maintain strong relationships with donors through regular communication, meetings, and events.

• Ensure timely and appropriate stewardship of major donors to enhance their connection with the organization.

• Solicitation and Gift Closure:

• Prepare compelling proposals, presentations, and other materials to solicit major gifts.

• Lead the solicitation process, including making direct asks and negotiating gift agreements.

• Close major gifts by demonstrating a clear understanding of donor interests and aligning them with organizational priorities.

• Collaboration and Strategy Development:

• Collaborate closely with fundraising team members to align major gift strategies with overall fundraising goals.

• Participate in the development of fundraising plans and strategies to achieve annual and long-term revenue targets.

• Provide input into donor recognition and stewardship programs to ensure high-level donor engagement and retention.

• Corporate Giving Strategy:

• Develop and implement an annual corporate giving plan aligned with the organization's fundraising goals and strategic priorities.

• Identify and prioritize prospective corporate donors, including corporations with potential for sponsorships, grants, and employee engagement opportunities.

• Research and stay informed about corporate giving trends, best practices, and opportunities for partnership.

• Data Management and Reporting:

• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of donor interactions and moves management in the donor database (CRM system).

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree in a related field preferred.

• Proven track record of successfully soliciting and closing major gifts in a nonprofit or comparable setting.

• Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships with high-net-worth individuals and diverse stakeholders.

• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to articulate the mission and impact of the organization effectively.

• Strategic thinker with the ability to develop and implement effective fundraising strategies.

• Highly organized with excellent project management skills and attention to detail.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team environment.

• Knowledge of fundraising databases and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
