JOB SUMMARY

This position is responsible for performing a variety of functions within the Deposit Services Department related primarily account maintenance and research. Primary functions include processing account coding and customer information changes in IBS and fulfilling various account research requests, such as statement history and account verifications.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • High school diploma or equivalent required

  • 1 - 3 Years experience in function

  • 1 - 3 Years experience in industry

  • Excellent organizational skills.

  • Strong customer service skills.

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, email, IBS, Synergy and e-Desk.

  • Works effectively in a team.

  • Must have proficient verbal, written, and telephone communication skills.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Customer Service

  • Respond to research requests from Banking Centers for historical information pertaining to customer information and accounts.

  • Processes account verifications for Housing Authorities, government services and local municipality audits.

  • Respond to research requests from Risk Management in regards to Court ordered subpoenas.

Operations

  • Process maintenance requests from Banking Centers for changes to customer information and account coding.

  • Perform routine clean up maintenance of customer information and accounts to ensure IBS core system is accurate.

Problem Resolution

  • Identifies and resolves discrepancies in a timely manner.

This individual has accountability for the comprehensive management, coordination and facilitation of cardiovascular clinical studies, including patient enrollment, follow-up and maintains accurate and timely documentation. Performs diverse administrative duties requiring some analysis, judgment and knowledge of specific cardiovascular study protocols. Adheres to principles of "Good Clinical Practice" from the Code of Federal Regulations. Demonstrates good interpersonal communication skills for interaction with a broad spectrum of health care disciplines. Detail oriented with definitive criteria and paperwork. Utilizes database management and analytical computer software. Trouble-shooting, problem solving, evaluative and teamwork skills are required. Must be motivated, organized and be able to function independently. Responsibilities ESSENTIAL: Responsibilities: (30%)* Enrolls patient/participant into clinical trials/study. Interviews and screen patients to identify potential patient/participants for a specific study; Validates potential patient/participant data against pre-established inclusion and exclusion criteria for various studies, Provides Informed Consent with patient and family and documents. Proactively consults with Primary Investigator and sponsor representative regarding deviations from these criteria. (25%)* Collects and documents clinical findings from patients and responds to queries to provide study data. (15%)* Obtains detailed knowledge of all components of study protocol through independent analysis and review of study, prior to study effective date. (15%)* Reviews basic study information; prepare synopsis of a protocol for staff review. (15%)* Schedules patient follow-ups; performs follow-up.' OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Demonstrates excellent customer service. Promotes subject safety at all times. Contributes to the MidMichigan Health organization targets for patient satisfaction and net operating margin. Ensures the availability of accurate and timely information. Establishes and maintains effective work relationships with participants, families, physicians, physician office staff, hospital staff, pharmaceutical company representatives, and research-related visitors. Acts as liaison between all involved clinical areas and staff of the protocol requirements. For example Critical Care Unit (CCU), Invasive Cardiology etc. Works collaboratively with investigator, sub-investigators, referring physicians, other clinical research nurses and hospital staff. Provides education for patients and family regarding the protocol including the disease process, plan of care, symptom awareness and the need to report adverse events. Provides in-service education to clinical staff of the hospitals (pharmacy, nursing, etc.) related to investigational drug, device or procedure including physiological effects, drug interactions, side effects, nursing care considerations, etc. Communicates serious adverse events to all appropriate sources. Accountable to the Manager of Cardiovascular Research Be on call as scheduled. Represents MidMichigan Health as a qualitative, investigative site. Prepares, coordinates and participates in on-site monitor visits. Analyzes protocol and assist in creation of source documents. Coordinates activities related to billing, notification of appropriate departments, lab orders, etc. Prepares monthly time reports for director. Assists in the research program long-term goals and objectives. Follow patients and complete post hospital follow-ups, including clinical assessments. Performs blood draws and basic lab tests as required for study. Coordinates and provides patient care and follow-up to research patients as indicated per protocol and remains available 24 hours a day when on call. Explains, in laymen terms, aspects of study participation/participants rights as research subjects; answer questions; and refer these to the primary investigator as needed. Ascertains the adequacy of the document and obtain informed consent following the federal regulations before beginning study-related procedures. Provides a copy of signed informed consent to the participant. Serves as a resource (along with the PI) for questions or concerns of the participant. Maintains OSHA and Universal Precautions. Keep participant's welfare uppermost in mind regarding emergency situations, study procedures, termination of the study, etc. Provides participants with research related materials (study diaries, instruction sheet, study contact card, etc.) Completes and maintains source documentation. Establishes procedures for randomization, blinding and data collection Maintains records of clinical trials in adherence with FDA regulations. Signed informed consent Signed procedure consent form Completes case report forms (from patient chart) per FDA guidelines. Daily follow-up of patient labs Reviews of nurses notes (adverse effects) Briefly interviews patients nurse to ascertain cardiac systems Provides safekeeping for records during study for designated period of time afterwards. Mail to coordinating site (CD of radiological images) Completes study discharge instructions on patient chart. Maintains patient follow ups at mandatory intervals (telephone, office visits, and labs) Dispenses and records distribution of non-formulary drugs/devices. Keeps thorough and detailed documentation of drug disposition. Makes information contained in case report forms available to sponsoring organization in a timely manner via computer, fax, main or monitoring visit. Maintains ongoing documentation of communication with IRB regarding study occurrence reporting, administrative changes, etc. Assures laboratory procedures are followed and maintains investigator awareness of lab results. Resolves all sponsor queries regarding participant information. Documents follow-up with participant about ongoing adverse events after study completion per standard operating procedures. Maintains, closes, and archives study documents according to standard operating procedure. Qualifications Education: Essential: * Associates Degree * Nursing Education equivalent experience: Essential: * Bachelor's degree in nursing preferred. Nonessential: * Knowledge of nursing skills as normally acquired through completion and licensing of an Associate Nurse Program. BSN preferred. Credentials: Essential: * Basic Life Support * Registered Nurse Credential source: Essential: * State of Michigan Credential equivalent experience: Essential: * BSN is perferred. EXPERIENCE, TRAINING AND SKILLS: 3-5 years recent critical care or acute cardiology experience. Prefer previous research experience. Ability to communicate effectively with members of the health care team, patients, and sponsors of research. Ability to make and initiate decisions, demonstrates initiative to act independently. Uses logical and sound judgment to generate alternative courses of action. Adaptability- able to initiate or modify behavior to accomplish task in spite of environmental factors, priorities, or problems that might not be well defined or that are subject to change. Understands nature and intent of instructions and masters new routines or techniques quickly. Demonstrates sound judgment in deciphering appropriate statistics and/or side effects that are essential for progress reports to physicians. Effectively reports patient behavior and adverse reactions during this study. Is well organized, accurate and timely in reporting responsibilities. Ability to work productively independently. Personal computer (Database, spreadsheet and word processing) experience. Ability to coordinate and establish priorities among diverse tasks. Work with multiple clinical trial protocols and take and transcribe verbal orders. Ability to organize and summarize data. Be creative in approach to problem solving. Ability to administer drugs via various routes. Ability to work flexible hours. Maintain accurate records of hours worked. Physical/Mental Requirements and Working Conditions Exposure to stressful situations, including those involving public contact, as well as, trauma, grief and death. Able to wear personal protective equipment that includes latex materials or appropriate substitute if required for your position. Is able to move freely about facility with or without an assisted device and must be able to perform the functions of the job as outlined in the job description. Overall vision and hearing is necessary with or without assisted device(s). Frequently required to sit/stand/walk for long periods of time. May require frequent postural changes such as stooping, kneeling or crouching. Some exposure to blood borne pathogens and other potentially infectious material. Must follow MidMichigan Health bloodborne pathogen and TB testing as required. Ability to handle multiple tasks, get along with others, work independently, regular and predictable attendance and ability to stay awake.
