Maintenance/Construction Technician IV

Black Mountain Neuro-Medical Treatment Center (BMNTC) is accepting applications for a full-time Maintenance/Construction Technician IV.

The Maintenance/Construction Technician IV is a working supervisor whose primary responsibility is to supervise and coordinate the carpentry staff and the construction projects for the facility.

Responsibilities include:

• Provide maintenance/construction supervision to support the BMNTC campus (189,740 square feet including the main campus and the outlying buildings)

• Supervision of carpentry department to include staff, equipment, and shops

• Coordinate all major and minor building construction and renovation projects under the direction of Facility Maintenance Director

• Coordinate with and assist outside contractors and engineers

• Ensure compliance with all building codes, life safety codes and state fire regulations

• Supervise maintenance of all windows, and doors

• Supervision of the facility physical security (maintaining security devices, door locks, etc.)

• Supervise maintenance of grounds keeping equipment

• Prepare cost estimated sketches and drawings necessary to maintain all structures belonging to the center

This position is designated MANDATORY and MUST report or stay over during adverse weather events and/or other emergencies.

Black Mountain Neuro-Medical Treatment Center is one of three state operated facilities serving adults with chronic and complex medical conditions that co-exist with neurodevelopmental or neurocognitive disorders often related to a diagnosis of severe and persistent mental illness or intellectual disability.  The health and physical status of these residents require 24-hour supervision, daily nursing care, and assistance with activities of daily living.

Management Preferences:

• Demonstrated experience working with construction in a health care facility

High school or General Educational Development diploma and two (2) years of experience in the performance of the full range of journey level tasks associated with two (2) or more highly complex mechanical or building trades; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Necessary Special Qualification: May require current certification by the Environmental Protection Agency as a Type I, II, III or Universal technician as required by Title 40, Code of Federal Regulations Part 82, Subpart F.
