VIEW JOBS 11/8/2018 12:00:00 AM 2019-02-06T00:00 The Maintenance Mechanic performs equipment maintenance and repair work on all production line equipment to minimize production downtime. Must be able to work with little or no assistance or supervision. Completes all work on a daily basis while working in a safe manner following all safety rules, LOTO procedures, and JSA's. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. * Performs adjusting and mechanical maintenance and repair work on all equipment to support production on the raw breaded, battered, and extruded lines. * Replaces bearings, seals and gears in electric motors, gear motors and gear boxes. * Repairs and/or splices wires, conveyors, elevators and rubber belts. * Performs electrical troubleshooting, wiring and repair work. * Repairs and maintains various hydraulic equipment, heating and ventilating units and material handling equipment. * Performs preventive maintenance work as required. * Sharpens blades and knives on various machines. * Maintains oil fill levels in all ammonia compressors, air compressors and vacuum systems and changes oil as required. * Performs oiling and greasing work on other plant equipment. * Performs general maintenance duties including carpentry, plumbing and painting work. * Uses standard shop tools including saws, cutting torches, welders and drill presses. * Does moderately complex welding on various plant equipment. * Must complete the LOTO certification process. OTHER * Follows all safety, including lockout/tagout, and sanitation procedures. * Keeps shop and work areas in a clean and orderly condition. * Performs other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE High school diploma or general education degree (GED); one to three years of previous work experience and on-the-job training. Must be proficient in three or more of the following areas: refrigeration (ammonia), electrical wiring and troubleshooting(solid state a plus), hydraulics and pneumatics, PLC skills (SLC 100, 150 & PLC 5 series), robotics, ability to read blueprints and schematics, stainless steel fabrication, and welding. Basic mechanical skills and use of hand and power tools required. LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively with other employees, contractor employees, and visitors. FORKLIFT LICENSE A forklift license is required for this position. HAZMAT PHYSICAL A Hazmat physical will be required before training can begin.
