The Park and Recreation Department provides a variety of recreational sport programs and facilities year-round for Fort Worth residents of all ages which help relieve stress, enhance physical conditioning and enhance quality of life. Managing five tournament-level golf courses and over 60 high-level competition sports fields, the Golf and Athletics division has been perennially recognized as one of the best in the country for its programs and services.

We are recruiting for a dedicated and dependable full-time maintenance worker with benefits for the Pecan Valley Golf Course.

Weekends, holidays and emergency call back hours may be required.

Job Description:

The selected candidates will perform a variety of activities in the completion of assigned duties and responsibilities related to golf course and athletic fields. Duties and responsibilities will include operating a variety of mowers and turf equipment such as weed eaters, shovels, stick edgers, backpack blowers, chain saws, pole saws, shovels, rake, pick axes, jack hammers and rakes. Other duties may include removing and trimming shrubbery; raking leaves and removing trash; mowing grass, fertilizing turf, cleaning debris from ditches, culverts and creek beds, gravel, or sand, maintain park turf, trees and landscape plants using proper mowing, edging, and pruning techniques; collect and haul trash and maintain hard surfaces and trails, in addition to cleaning restrooms.

Positions will operate medium and light equipment such as driving brush trucks, tractors, riding mowers, frontend loaders and various other equipment in support of a variety of maintenance and construction operations. Assist in pesticide applications where needed and perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

High school diploma/GED and no experience required or no HS diploma/GED and two years maintenance experience required.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Valid Texas Driver's License.

Preferences

At least one year of golf course or park maintenance experience preferred.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS * Establishes and maintains high standards of safety, cleanliness, and good housekeeping practices in all facilities and grounds areas. * Supervises supplemental staff and participates in custodial work in cleaning offices, conference rooms, coaches/press box, pools, decks, restrooms, aisles, walks, stairways, athletic competition areas, walls, and fixtures. * Operates equipment to mow, edge, trim, and weed grounds using designated equipment; secures equipment not being used. * Sweeps, polishes, mops, dusts, dresses, and vacuums floors; cleans glass; disinfects floors and surfaces. * Requests the appropriate materials and equipment for cleaning a wide variety of floors, walls, and other surfaces. * Works a flex schedule to maintain the appropriate operation of the facilities during events. * Maintains a routine work schedule for regular and special cleaning, including intermittent clean ups after each athletic competition / full clean-up at the end of season; ensures that facilities are unlocked or secured when necessary. * Follows expected guidelines for time and attendance (automated system/time cards). * Inspects facility equipment, determines the need for and recommends corrective action, and/or work orders; coordinates maintenance and repairs to custodial standard of non-hazardous conditions; works with the facility manager and or site administrator. * Ensures the safe and efficient operation of equipment; operates, services, adjusts, and makes minor repairs to all necessary custodial/landscaping equipment assigned to the facility. * Maintains records and submits documentation to Facilities Manager on facility security, vandalism, thefts, emergencies, supply needs, use of facilities, and related matters. * Confers with Facilities Manager or Event Supervisor in regard to the utilization of facilities and equipment, site security, special programs and activities, and animal regulations. * Receives, checks, and disburses custodial and facility supplies and equipment; stores equipment supplies; maintains an inventory and related records as required (daily work activities); posts and maintains Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS). * Monitors watering lawns, shrubs, and trees involving the operation of manual or automatic irrigation systems in accordance with instructions from Facilities Manager, Maintenance, or Operations, as well as compliance with city regulations. * Participates in the removal of weeds and debris from paved and unplanted areas and fence lines. * Participates in moving/securing audio-visual and other equipment within the facility as authorized by Facilities Manager, site administrator, and/or Area Supervisor. * Maintains records of shutoff valves and utility cutoffs, including fire sprinkler systems; checks and operates fire extinguishers. * Ensures the facilities are properly secured during and after working hours, including facility gates. * Attends scheduled Facilities, Custodial and District meetings as required. Safety * Performs preventive maintenance on tools and equipment and ensures that equipment is in safe operating condition. * Follows established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties including lifting and climbing; operates tools and equipment according to established safety procedures. * Corrects unsafe conditions in work area and promptly reports any conditions that are not immediately correctable to supervisor.
