The incumbent performs a variety of tasks involved in the maintenance of buildings. The duties are performed within at least two trades. As a Maintenance Worker, the incumbent performs a variety of tasks involved in maintenance buildings which require the performance of a variety of trade practices associated with the painting and architectural trades. The incumbent performs a variety of tasks involved in the maintenance of buildings. The duties are performed within at least two trades. As a Maintenance Worker, the incumbent performs a variety of tasks involved in maintenance buildings which require the performance of a variety of trade practices associated with the painting and architectural trades. Duties include, but are not limited to: * Performs standard coating methods such as brushing, rolling, and spraying. * Prepares surfaces to be painted by sanding and wire brushing, followed by priming. * Thins, stirs and mixes coating materials according to specific directions. * Replaces/repairs drywall, cove base, floor/wall tile, ceiling tiles/grid, light bulbs, wall plates as well as other minor repairs. * Installs door stops, hangs wall items such as pictures, bulletin boards, mirrors, fans or clocks, replaces bumper guards, nurse call pull cords, etc. * Installs/adjusts door closures. * Mounts paper towel holders, signs, trims, bumper guards, hand rails, corner guard and safety treads on steps. * Removing, cleaning, replacing, packing and sealing defective parts of utility, supply and disposal systems such as dirty traps; sections of broken tile. * Performs other duties as assigned. Physical Requirements/Working Conditions: The work is performed primarily indoors. The work area may be dirty, wet, dusty and greasy. The incumbent is required to wear and/or utilize proper safety equipment. Safety shoes must be worn during duty times. Eyeglasses, goggles, hard hats,respirators, gloves, gowns, protective clothing, or hearing protection will be worn when performing work involving known hazards or when care must be extended by the incumbent to prevent injury.
