Maintenance Worker II

Performs essential maintenance services in County parks that support the quality of life for Palm Beach County residents and visitors by providing safe, clean, and welcoming parks and facilities. Duties are performed in accordance with quality standards and include:

Interacting with park visitors; providing landscape/grounds safety checks and maintenance such as mowing, string trimming and pruning trees; maintaining natural areas through various methods of invasive exotic plant removal and participating in prescribed fires; providing custodial services/restroom, pavilion and picnic area maintenance. Responsible for litter pick-up and provides customer service pertaining to maintenance functions and other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum of one (1) year of experience in laboring work providing a familiarity with refuse collection, general custodial work or landscape/natural area/invasive exotic plant removal/prescribed fire.

Necessary Special Requirement: Must obtain Infant, Child and Adult First Aid/Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)/Automated External Defibrillator (AED) Certification within six (6) months of hire.

PREFERENCE FOR EXPERIENCE: Working in an environmental sensitive area/wildlife park; operating mowers, chain saws, pressure cleaners or exotic plant removal/prescribed fire equipment; performing ground maintenance within a park system.

Also desirable: Bilingual (English/Spanish/Creole) (must specify on application).

NOTE: It is not necessary to submit another application for this position if you applied 3/4-22/24.

Must be able to lift 50 pounds. Valid Florida Driver's License and PBC Risk Management Department driving history approval prior to appointment.
