This is manual labor in the performance of grounds, parks and tennis court.

HOURS: Ability to work flexible schedule, approximately 24 hours per week. May include evenings, holidays and weekends.

Employees are hired as AT WILL employees that serve at the pleasure of the City and may be terminated at any time with or without cause. Lock/unlock courts; sweep , water and line courts, inspect areas for trash and debris.

Regularly inspect and maintain courts, lines, windscreens, nets and awings.

May cut and edge grass with hand tools and power-operated machines.

May plant trees and shrubbery to maintain landscaping throughout tennis facility.

Organizes and maintains storage garage, shed and closets.

May give general care to tennis center grounds; remove dirt, rubbish, weeds, leaves and other refuse from grounds.

Maintains cleanliness of the facility's patio area.

May prune trees to eliminate hazards and preserve the beauty of the trees on municipal property.

May clean and care for public buildings and other municipal property: paint, sweep, mop, scrub floors, wash windows and walls.

Communicates court conditions to office staff to ensure a great experience for members and guest.

May take down, move and erect portable stage, windscreens benches, seats , bleachers and chairs or equipment, as needed.

Exercises care and safety in use of equipment and tools required to complete assigned tasks and knowledge of safety rules and regulations prescribed by the City.

May be required to perform general maintenance such as painting, custodial duties and mopping and cleaning restrooms.

This position does not have final procurement authority.

Performs any assigned duty before, during and after a declared emergency.

Performs related work as required and as directed. Knowledge of tools used in general ground maintenance, tennis court maintenance and construction.

Knowledge of and the ability to perform tennis court maintenance; to include but not limited to sweeping, lining, rolling and watering.

Knowledge of the occupational hazards of the trade and of proper use of safety practices. Ability to operate assigned equipment safely.

Ability to paint, repair, install and maintain tennis facility and fences and maintain irrigation systems.

Ability to give general care to grounds; remove dirt, rubbish, weeds, leaves and other refuse from grounds.

Ability to understand and carry out instructions and follow check lists to complete work assignments correctly.

Ability to perform heavy manual labor for extended periods, often under hot and humid conditions.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other City employees, department officials and the general public.

Ability to operate a City vehicle and must possess and maintain a valid Florida driver's license.

DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING

Some experience in ground maintenance, landscape maintenance, ball field maintenance, tennis court maintenance,  construction and repair work or other appropriate fields as it relates to the position assigned.

Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, abilities and skills may be considered.

Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent GED preferred.

LiveScan Process

Incumbents in this job class are required to undergo a Level 2 Background Screening as required by the State of Florida. The screening includes a photograph, fingerprint-based searches of criminal records nationally, and is performed using the electronic LiveScan process.
