Career-Seasonal appointments are permanent positions and include the same benefits as Career appointments, but do not provide work on a year-round basis. You are guaranteed to work at least 6 months per year but not more than 50 weeks per year, with the work schedule to be determined upon appointment.

  • Performs carpentry repairs of limited difficulty to buildings and quarters. Constructs, installs, repairs and replaces such items as doors, shelves, supply racks, hardware, frame structures, windows, trim and cabinets.

  • Performs plumbing repairs of limited difficulty such as tightening or replacing in-kind fittings and fixtures which do not require custom fitting or solder joints.

  • Removes trash and debris from roadsides. Cleans comfort stations, picnic areas, offices, and other public use areas.

  • Performs grounds maintenance utilizing push mowers, weed eaters, riding mowers and all-terrain vehicles.

  • Makes minor repairs to buildings and structures. Prepares surfaces for painting by sanding, buffing, and cleaning. Clears simple stoppages; replaces washers in faucets; cuts or drills previously marked holes and openings in walls or floors. Replaces fuses and light bulbs.

  • Perform minor/routine maintenance while working with/assisting journeyman level employees in completing projects in painting, plumbing, carpentry, electrical and utility systems.

  • Operates motor vehicles weighing up to 10,000 GVW while carrying out duties of the position such as transporting debris, equipment, or personnel.

  • Meet Selective Service Registration Act requirement for males

  • Selectees will be required to participate in the Direct Deposit Electronics Funds Transfer Program..

  • You will be required to operate a government (or private) motor vehicle as part of your official duties; a valid driver's license is required.

  • Selectees will be in a non-pay/non-duty status for 2 weeks in the months of February-March per year based on project requirements or weather conditions.

  • Selectee must complete a Career Seasonal Agreement.

  • You may be required to complete training and operate a four-wheel drive vehicle.

  • You will be required to wear a uniform and comply with the National Park Service uniform standards. A uniform allowance will be provided.

  • You may be required to work holidays.


To qualify for this position, you must have sufficient knowledge and ability in the following job-related factors:

  • Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision (SCREEN OUT)

  • Ability To Interpret Instructions, Specifications, etc. (includes blueprinting reading)

  • Ability To Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment
