How you'll help us Keep Climbing (overview & key responsibilities)

The Maintenance Utility 1 is responsible for maintaining the equipment, tooling and parts located on the ramp, inside and outside of the Base Maintenance facilities. This position is responsible for the movement, operation and location of the equipment in and around the aircraft located on the ramp area outside of Base Maintenance hangar facilities.

The Maintenance Utility employee 1 is also responsible for ensuring a clean, organized and safe work environment in the hangar and outside the hangar.

Additional responsibilities will include performing maintenance tasks such as cleaning, stripping, blasting, and coating of aircraft parts. Will perform minor disassembly of aircraft parts to facilitate cleaning and replacement of aircraft cabin items that are not flight critical or safety sensitive. Will assist in determining the appropriate detergents, solutions, and equipment to effectively and efficiently accomplish shop and aircraft related functions, parts cleaning, and preparation of parts for painting/inspection/maintenance processing, cleaning, and polishing of interior and exterior aircraft surfaces. Helps coordinate the flow of parts and supplies around the bay to support the AMTs and ensure safe work environment. Candidate may be asked to support aircraft movement as a tug driver, brake rider, marshal, or wing walker if candidate has completed required training. This position requires the employee to be thorough in their work in order to provide the highest level of quality. This job requires outside work with exposure to the extremes of the local climate.

The minimum starting hourly rate for this position is $16.55 with a potential maximum entry rate of $17.14. The ability to reach the maximum hourly rate is dependent upon several other offered premiums (Examples would include but not limited to

  • Airframe and Powerplant license, Shift differential, Station location differential, Line Maintenance differential, Skill differential).

What you need to succeed (minimum qualifications)

  • Possesses high school diploma, GED or high school equivalency.

  • Must have a valid driver's license.

  • Is at least 18 years of age and has authorization to work in the United States.

  • Must be able to read and write English.

  • Must meet the physical requirements which qualify a person to perform essential job functions (lift 50lbs).

  • Must be able to multi-task and work under pressure.

  • Must be a team player and a self-starter.

  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule including weekends, holidays and either rotating or fixed shifts.

  • Must be performing satisfactorily in present position.

  • Previous Forklift, Motorized cart experience.
