Your primary role as a Maintenance Technician will be to do the work necessary to keep our machines, mechanical equipment, and the structure of our campus buildings in good repair.

Role Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Director of Facilities and working throughout our campus, you will:

  • Perform routine preventive maintenance to ensure that machines continue to run smoothly, building systems operate efficiently, and the physical condition of buildings does not deteriorate.

  • Repair or replace defective equipment parts and reassemble equipment.

  • Diagnose mechanical problems and determine how to correct them, checking blueprints, repair manuals and part catalogs, as necessary.

  • Order parts, supplies, and equipment from catalogs and suppliers, or obtain them from storerooms.

  • Assemble, install, or repair wiring, electrical and electronic components, pipe systems and plumbing, machinery, and equipment.

  • Use tools ranging from common hand and power tools, such as hammers, hoists, saws, drills, and wrenches, to precision measuring instruments, and electrical and electronic testing devices.

One of the highlights of working at our school is attending our semi-annual graduation ceremonies, watching students walk the stage as they complete their program; attendance is mandatory.

Required Knowledge, Education, and Experience:

The successful applicant will have a High School diploma or GED, with a minimum of two years related field experience.

People Responsibilities:

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Physical Environment:

You will work throughout the campus, but the majority of your work is likely to be performed in a welding lab environment with uncontrolled temperatures.

  • The successful applicant may be required to stand for long periods of time.

  • You may be required to use calculators, keyboards, phones, and other office equipment as needed.

  • Please be aware that stooping, bending, twisting, and reaching will be required

  • You can expect wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions, and risk of electrical shock.

  • You will sometimes be required to lift and/or carry up to 50 pounds.
