Responsibilities

Essential

  • Maintains general building maintenance. Minor building repairs and moving of furniture as needed.

  • Maintain woodwork, paint, wallpaper, doors, etc.

  • Fleet Vehicles- Maintain and audit all Melaleuca vehicles

  • Weekly inventory counts- Cleaning Supplies, PM & CM Parts, assets, etc.

  • Daily, Weekly, Monthly and Yearly PM checks and readings

  • Maintains landscape of Melaleuca properties

  • Works long or unusual hours on assigned shift.

  • Performs various special projects according to skill and ability.

Additional

  • Performs other duties as assigned or needed.

  • Performs a soil extraction process on the carpeted areas on a monthly basis.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Ability to work independently.

  • Ability to work under stress.

  • Ability to lift a minimum of 25 lbs.

  • Standing, sitting or walking for duration of shift.

  • Pulling, stretching, bending and lifting for duration of shift.

  • Manual dexterity for such duties as wiping, dusting, cleaning, etc.

  • Good math skills (add, subtract, multiply, divide, etc.).

  • Good computer skills

  • Ability to perform the essential duties and responsibilities with efficiency and accuracy.

Additional

  • Ability to lift up to 100 lbs.

  • Written and verbal communication skills.

VIEW JOBS 4/6/2020 12:00:00 AM 2020-07-05T00:00 Position Summary: The primary responsibility of the Maintenance Technician position is work as either a mechanic or Apprentice Electrician with duties pertaining to the install, troubleshoot and repair equipment and distribution systems involving work of a varied nature, with little supervision. This position is considered a Mill Right or Apprentice Journeyman, and the qualified candidate should be able to do any job in the maintenance or electrical field with great skill. Principle Accountabilities: Maintenance Mechanic: 1. Demonstrates ability to plan and coordinate maintenance jobs effectively with plant production requirements. Installs and rearranges new and old processing equipment. Uses time efficiently while assigned to multiple projects. 2. When assigned, will work with outside contractors working onsite to ensure and inspect work quality. In addition, will work with outside vendors to specify new equipment requirements. 3. Trains and assists less experienced maintenance technicians. Completes routine paperwork as required. 4. Teach welding fundamentals to new maintenance mechanics and Apprentice Electricians. 5. Diagnoses equipment failures and make necessary repairs while minimizing production down time. Demonstrates the ability to start flake drum from a cold start. 6. Understand boiler chemistry, including adjustments needed when out of specifications, start and stop boilers. 7. Performs the following types of routine repairs and maintenance procedures including but not limited to: o Review of boiler logs and readings, monitor and adjust proper tensioning on belt drive systems, cut lace and align conveyor belt systems o Check and fill gear boxes with proper oil weight rebuild gear boxes, use pipe machine and basic pipe fitting and plumbing skills o Use hand tools and power tools in shop, uses welders (MIG) and (TIG) and cutting torches oxy-acetylene and plasma torches to repair and fabricate parts, use drill presses at proper speed and drill size, use and properly adjust band saw, replace bearings, align electric motor couplings, align and adjust sprockets and chains, o Repair overhead doors, adjust slabber knives and assist Production employees in changing drum knives, refurbish pumps, install copper tubing, black pipe and stainless steel pipe, check and replace fuses, adjust slice and dice machines for various products, identify different bolt grades and bearing styles, calibrate and maintain scales. o Determine driver shaft speed change when changing sprocket sizes, determine conveyor belt surface speed given heal roll size and roller speed, convert units of measure from metric to standard, read drawings and understand symbols for hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical and electrical systems, calculate tank volumes from dimensions, understand function of AC variable drives. 8. Dismantles repairs and reassembles equipment, uses typical mechanic's tools and inspection gauges. 9. Directs work and instructs other mechanics and helpers. 10. Operates production and packaging equipment to check work as required. 11. Knows location of all shop equipment. Has ability to start, stop and operate all equipment. 12. Completes routine paperwork as required, follows lockout/tag out safety procedures, utilizes confined space permits. Utilizes proper rigging techniques. 13. Must comply with all safety regulations, attend safety meetings and follow all plant and safety rules. Follows all good manufacturing practices as set up by the company policy. 14. Follow, and enforce, all company Food Safety and Food Quality programs, policies and practices. 15. All other duties as assigned. 3rd & 4th Year Electrical Apprentice: 1. Installs electrical wiring and instrumentation systems to support processing equipment. Uses time efficiently while assigned to multiple projects. 2. When assigned, will work with outside electrical contractors working onsite to ensure and inspect work quality. In addition, will work with outside vendors to specify new equipment requirements. 3. Troubleshoots diagnoses and corrects electrical problems in the power distribution, electrical equipment, instrumentation systems and lighting systems. 4. Teach electrical fundamentals to new maintenance mechanics and Apprentice Electricians. 5. Installs, removes, repairs, overhauls and tests electrical equipment, both alternating and direct current. 6. Performs installation, removal and repair of a wide range of electrical equipment, such as power circuits, lighting systems, switchgear, transformers, starters, controllers, capacitors, production equipment power and control systems, electronic power and control and communication equipment. 7. Diagnoses equipment failures and make necessary repairs while minimizing production down time. Demonstrates the ability to start flake drum from a cold start. 8. Operates production and packaging equipment to check work as required. 9. Performs mechanical work on electrical equipment. 10. Works to meet current electrical codes and company policies and practices. Selects proper equipment size, wire and conduit sizes, breaker switch and fuse sizes from appropriate catalogs. 11. Directs work and instructs other electricians, helpers and apprentices. 12. Completes routine paperwork as required, follows lockout/tag out safety procedures, utilizes confined space permits. Utilizes proper rigging techniques. 13. Must comply with all safety regulations, attend safety meetings and follow all plant and safety rules. Follows all good manufacturing practices as set up by the company policy. 14. Follow, and enforce, all company Food Safety and Food Quality programs, policies and practices. 15. Completes other duties as assigned by the Maintenance Manager and/or Lead. Must have excellent oral and written communication skills, telephone skills, and thorough knowledge of grammar, spelling, and punctuation. Math Skills: * This position requires quantitative skills and knowledge of math functions such as percentages, decimals, and the ability to chart numerical data appropriately. Performs mathematics to determine proper components and installation requirements. Reasoning Ability: * This position requires a high degree of self-confidence and maturity to make decisions required in day-to-day activities. Must be able to solve problems with minimal direction, be detailed oriented and have strong organizational skills. A team player who is flexible, and accepts changing assignments and accountabilities. Should display excellent interpersonal skills. Computer Skills: * Essential computer skills using Windows applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and E-mail. * Also utilize the computerized maintenance management software to generate work orders for issues found on the work floor or get assigned work from Supervisor. Work Environment: * This position requires the ability to perform various physical activities such as heavy lifting (up to 50 lbs.) standing on concrete floors for extended periods of time, moving parts and loud noise. Must be able to work with sanitizers and cleaning chemicals. Must be able to work various shifts as assigned by Supervisor. Cleans job site and tools. Stores tools and equipment in designated places in an orderly manner. Works on ladders, scaffolds, and forklift cages and in pits using proper safety precautions.
