The Barberton, Ohio facility has been a local business leader in the community for over 118 years.
The Barberton, Ohio facility is looking for mechanical journeyman. The successful must be able to work safely using good judgment in all work situations, effectively resolve and troubleshoot problems, demonstrate willingness and an ability to adjust to change.
Must perform all job task in a safe manner, by following all of the mandatory safety requirements and guidelines.
Ensures operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements and repair of pumps, motors, gearboxes, agitators, dies, extruders, feeders, slitters, cutters, rolls, drive chains, classifiers, mills, etc. following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications; troubleshooting malfunctions.
Locates sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation; listening for problems; using precision measuring and testing instruments.
Removes defective parts by dismantling devices; using hoists, cranes, and hand and power tools; examining form and texture of parts.
Determines changes in dimensional requirements of parts by inspecting used parts; using rulers, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments.
Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments by using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, and straightedges.
Fabricates repair parts by using machine shop instrumentation and equipment.
Maintains equipment, parts, and supplies inventories by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed equipment, parts, and supplies.
Maintains continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
To perform their job, the Maintenance Mechanics regularly operate facility equipment which may include:
Successful candidate must be able to work 2nd or 3rd shifts.
Mechanics' work is sometimes strenuous. They may stand for long periods and frequently work on ladders and scaffolds. Their working environment varies, depending on the type of job including working outdoors in the elements. Some may work in dusty, dirty, hot, or wet conditions, or in confined areas, ditches, or other uncomfortable places. Mechanics risk injury from falls, cuts, etc., to avoid injuries, they must follow strict safety procedures.
The wage employees at the Barberton facility are represented by the International Chemical Workers Union Council of the United Food and Commercial Workers Union, And Its Local 1049-C.
Experience and Education
Have completed certified maintenance apprentice program or mechanical technical certificate and have at least five (5) years' experience performing maintenance work in a manufacturing facility, preferably in a chemical facility.
