Our Maintenance Technicians are expected to perform a wide variety of electrical, plumbing, equipment and general building maintenance and repair functions related to the care and maintenance of SEG buildings and facilities.
JOB DUTIES: This class specification lists the major duties and requirements of the job and is not all-inclusive. Incumbent(s) may be expected to perform job-related duties other than those contained in this document and may be required to have specific job-related knowledge and skills.
Perform a wide variety of general building maintenance repairs and services.
Install light bulbs, doors, cabinets, bulletin boards and other items that need mounting or adjusting.
Minor repairs to doors, handles, cabinet and hinges
Repair leaky faucets and drinking fountains and clean clogged drains and toilets, and sinks. Replace washers and other minor parts.
Repair small appliances including vacuums.
Minor dry wall repair.
Minor playground repairs and lockers in school
Perform other related duties and responsibilities as required.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade. Trade school and/or military training a plus.
Two years of general building maintenance experience.
Ability to understand and follow oral and written directions. Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Establish and maintain effective relationships with those contracted in the course of work.
Knowledge of tools, equipment and supplies used in providing comprehensive building maintenance services. Able to identify problems and implement solutions. Work independently in the absence of supervision.
Provide excellent customer service, interactions, and professionalism at all times.
Flexibility to prioritize and meet needs of schools.
Travel between schools located in Maryland and Northern Viriginia is required.
