JOB MISSION: As a Maintenance Technician III you will help construct, alter and repair buildings, office space, fixtures and equipment under supervision utilizing various skills in carpentry, masonry, plumbing, electrical and mechanical. Interpret drawings and specifications to complete work assignments.

May schedule work assignments for Maintenance Technicians. MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES: Carpentry- Following an assigned schedule, construct, alter or repair items such as boxes, shelving, benches, tables, racks, walls, floors, roofing.

Etc.

Projects include indoor and outdoor carpentry work. Repair broken furniture and office fixtures. Recommend replacements.

Cut lumber and other materials such as formic, dry wall or plastics to dimension. Apply primers, paints, polyurethanes, epoxies, tar and sealers as required. Masonry- Following assigned, schedule, construct or repair walls, foundations, platforms, walkways and roadways made of concrete, cement blocks, brick or asphalt.

Build forms, lay steel mesh or rebar and install expansion joints. Mix and pour concrete, brush or trowel smooth. Fill potholes with asphalt.

Plumbing- Following an assigned schedule, repair or install piping for air, water and steam with appropriate materials. Cut and fit pipes up to 2" in diameter and connect joints. Weld materials using arc welding machine, crimped or soldiered connections.

Replace or repair valves and fixtures for toilets, sinks, urinals and other fixtures and equipment. Electrical- In coordination with Maintenance Technician IV, make electrical repairs to plant and equipment utilizing standard tools on voltages up to 220 volts. Repair or replace switches, plugs, lamp fixtures, starters, ballasts, fuses or circuit breakers.

Run wire or romex for new offices and install new boxes, switches and plugs. Re-route computer cables and telephone wires. . Assist maintenance Technician IV with major wiring jobs. Assists mechanics to troubleshoot energy sources feeding manufacturing equipment.

Mechanical- Following an assigned schedule, assemble or repair equipment such as conveyors, air compressors, Facilities equipment, boilers, and transmission equipment (gears, pulleys, belts, chains, etc.) Miscellaneous- Responsible for planning, design layout and purchasing of materials all maintenance and/or capital projects. Communicate with vendors to obtain best price. Write purchase orders and order materials.

In coordination with the Facilities Supervisor and Planner, perform scheduled work with Maintenance Technicians. Maintain departmental work schedules, preventative maintenance schedules, and materials costs. Participate as a member of NB Safety Committee.

Operate computerized Energy Management System. Move material as necessary in performance of duties or as directed. Detect and report improper operation, faulty equipment, defective materials and unusual conditions, to proper supervisor.

Maintain work area in a clean and orderly condition. Follow prescribed safety rules and regulations including lockout/tagout procedures. Maintain quality standards.

Respond to "on call" duties in case of emergencies. May perform additional related duties as required. Maintain inventory of equipment and supplies Travel to other NB locations as needed to assist with repairs or installations.

REQUIREMENTS FOR SUCCESS High school diploma or equivalent with a minimum of 5-8 years of work experience utilizing carpentry, masonry, plumbing, electrical and mechanical skills. Physical ability to lift moderate to heavy weight and climb ladders. This position requires movement throughout the facility.
