Position Summary Information

Objective

Skilled position performing maintenance and repair work in the building, mechanical and electrical trades. Work involves minor maintenance and repair jobs of a routine nature, which are carried out independently either through work order assignments or dispatched calls, or more advanced work in regular maintenance or repair jobs.

Required Quals Summary

Eight years of directly relevant experience in the maintenance and repair of building components and fixtures.

Principal Accountabilities

Principal Accountabilities

1.Perform general maintenance or repairs involving plumbing, electrical and carpentry skills. Work includes various types of leaks, blocked drains, lamp replacement, repairs to furniture and fixtures as assigned.

2.Assist with minor HVAC repairs such as motor replacement, installation of new belts and filters as assigned.

3.Maintain doors and locks. Adjustment and replacement of doors, closers, and hardware as needed or dictated by preventative maintenance schedule.

4.Assemble furniture, fixtures and various items as required.

5.Assist with inter and intra campus deliveries as needed.

6.Procures parts and equipment as needed. Help manage inventories.

7.Respond to after hour emergency calls.

8.Maintain various monthly and annual inspections on equipment and systems Including preventative maintenance measures

9.Perform other related tasks as assigned

Minimum Competencies

Minimum Competencies

• Knowledge of and skill in basic electrical repairs and maintenance including light fixtures, fans, motors, outlets, switches, electric water heaters, etc.

• Ability to replace various types of fluorescent lamps and bulbs, lenses, diffusers. Locate and reset circuit breaker and fuses. Provide temporary power as required

• Basic carpentry and repair skills to work on and maintain, doors, windows, furniture, ceilings, floors, walls and associated hardware. Respond to emergencies such as broken windows, non-functional doors and locks, etc.

• Basic plumbing skills including commercial type lavatory and toilet repairs and maintenance, pump and pipe replacement, performing various leak and clog repairs, etc.

5.Ability to perform minor renovation duties such as painting, rearranging of furniture, etc.
