Maintenance Technician III ensures the plant's operational equipment remains safe, reliable, and properly maintained. This position requires demonstrable capabilities in managing several operations and tasks at the same time. Must be able to effectively communicate with plant team - managers, operators and other staff - to understand operational issues communicated verbally, in writing or through written diagrams.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supports operational goals by diagnosing and executing unscheduled repairs on production and facilities equipment.

  • Works safely and follow implemented safety policies of the plant (e.g. PPE, safe work permits, lock-out tag-out).

  • Coordinates and performs preventative maintenance on instrument and electrical (I&E) equipment according to schedule.

  • Understands wiring diagrams, piping, and instrument diagrams (P&ID's), process flow sheets, schematics, technical manuals, etc.

  • Utilizes the Management of Change (MOC) process for documenting and acknowledging changes to procedures, equipment, etc.

  • Interfaces frequently with operators to understand and respond to maintenance issues.

  • Supports reliability effort by leading small projects, identifying reliability problems and serving on investigation teams.

  • Supports project teams with constructability, maintainability and spare parts input to layout and equipment design.

  • Attends scheduled maintenance team meetings and trainings.

  • Checks e-mail frequently for meeting notices, changes in plans, general communications, etc.

  • Maintains good housekeeping in daily work area and within the common maintenance shops and fabrication areas.

Major Electrical Duties:

Performs skilled work of average to considerable difficulty to accomplish a variety of electrical, mechanical and/or instrumentation maintenance tasks including:

  • Set-up, calibration, testing, and repair of all types of controls and instruments with pneumatic, electrical and electronic variables.

  • Maintenance and troubleshooting of 480VAC and lower equip.

  • Diagnosing fluid transfer systems and repairing pumps, valves, heat exchangers and other related components.

  • With the Process Control Engineer, support DCS (including Hardware & Software Programming, troubleshooting and optimizing)

Major Mechanical Duties:

Performs skilled work of average to considerable difficulty to accomplish a variety of mechanical maintenance tasks including:

  • Pipefitting (threaded, welded, tubing).

  • Welding.

  • Equipment setting and alignment.

  • Mechanical repair and/or rebuilds of pumps, valves, etc.

  • Diagnose and repair material handling systems, conveyors, and roll-to-roll transfers

  • Diagnose and repair air handling systems (fans, dampers, HVAC systems)

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Need to be enrolled in one of these trade classes and certified as an apprentice (plumbing, electrical, or welding)

  • A.S. Degree in a technical discipline, Military training/experience in a technical discipline, or directly related work experience required.

  • At least 3 years in a similar role in a production environment with pipefitting experience preferred.

  • Prior work history within a chemical manufacturing environment preferred.

  • Excellent communication skills required. Must be able to communicate in verbal and written English.

  • Must be computer literate and able to become proficient with Company-specific programs.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Lifting: Frequent lifting between 50-75 lbs

  • Pushing: Frequent pushing between 75-100 lbs - assisted

  • Pulling: Frequent pulling between 75-100 lbs - assisted

  • Standing: Most of the shift, except for breaks and meals

  • Walking: Most of the shift, except for breaks and meals
