Summary:

Maintenance Technician II is responsible for safely performing a wide range of maintenance and electrical duties to emergency and preventative repairs to plant machinery and infrastructure. The Maintenance Technician II responds to the needs of the production supervisor in the event of an unplanned production line breakdown. The Maintenance Technician II effectively utilizes manpower and equipment to complete repairs in a timely manner, thereby contributing to the productivity and customer satisfaction. The Maintenance Technician II will need to provide their own tools. The candidate will be able to effectively utilize cutting and welding equipment, handling equipment, blueprints, sketches, PLC Ladders, wiring diagrams, and manuals. This candidate must also have knowledge of maintenance on overhead cranes, and be able to trouble shoot and repair. The Maintenance Technician II must be organized and strive to keep and clean and clutter free work area. Working knowledge of 5S / 6S is preferred.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for safely performing emergency and preventative repairs to plant machinery and infrastructure.

  • Responsible for responding to work instructions from the Maintenance Group Leader, respond to emergency or breakdown calls. Diagnosing problems, dismantling and replacing defective or worn parts, testing of all repairs after replacement before turning over to the machine operator.

  • Responsible for performing assigned preventive maintenance, cut weld and fabricate as needed on projects.

  • Responsible for electrical work with proper PPE in accordance with rules and regulations set forth by OSHA and NFPA 70E (National Electrical Code).

  • Responsible for responding to the needs of the production supervisor in the event of an emergency breakdown. Effectively utilizes manpower and equipment to complete repairs in a timely manner.

  • Responsible for the cleanup of Maintenance and work areas where repairs are performed.

  • Responsible for the safe and prudent use of company equipment and tools. Also, ensures a safe work environment by utilizing Lock-out/Tag-out procedures and reporting any unsafe condition.

  • Reports to the Maintenance Group Leader or Production Leader during off-shifts and weekends.

  • Other duties include but are not limited to, plumbing, concrete work, digging and climbing to elevated heights and/ or working in high temperature area and confined spaces.

  • Communicates daily with internal personnel from Production and Quality Control in order to assist in resolving problems and achieving company goals.

  • Work from instructions, maintenance requests, and/or respond to emergency or breakdown calls.

These activities include scheduled preventive maintenance and emergency / break down repairs. Maintenance technicians reports to the Maintenance Manager. Primary maintenance technician duties / responsibilities include: 1.1 - following all safety rules and practices; 1.2 - performing preventive maintenance activities such as lubricating, measuring wear, measuring positions, repositioning components; and observing operations, vibrations, and noise levels; 1.3 - performing emergency / break down maintenance as necessary to support plant operations; 1.4 - referencing equipment manuals and other technical literature; 1.5 - contacting and working with vendors and subcontractors to achieve desired results; 1.6 - accurately using measurement and test equipment; 1.7 - performing electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, steam system, and other repairs and installations as needed; 1.8 - safely operating the boiler, and maintaining adequate operating steam pressure (> 180 PSI); 1.9 - maintaining clean and organized work areas, and cleaning up work areas as part of completing assigned tasks; 1.10 - accurately and completely preparing and maintaining maintenance records and other paperwork; 1.11 - trouble-shooting and solving problems; 1.12 - maintaining teamwork with other associates; 1.13 - keeping supervision informed of problems and/or unusual situations; 1.14 - performing other duties as assigned by supervision. 1.15 - troubleshooting abilities with PLCs is a plus. (Allen Bradley preferred) Qualifications for maintenance technicians are the ability to perform the duties / responsibilities of the job with or without accommodation; the ability to read, write, and speak English; the ability to accurately use and read a variety of measuring devices; well-rounded electrical, mechanical, and machine shop skills and experience; the ability to learn; and the ability to follow instructions, ask questions, and work effectively as a member of a team.
