The primary responsibility is to ensure the timely completion of all assigned maintenance duties and other tasks. Duties include performing repairs, preparing units and completing preventative maintenance.

Essential Functions

  • Completes basic building repairs related to air conditioner units, air exchange systems, electrical work, carpentry, fixtures, plumbing, appliances and windows in a timely manner

  • Completes preventative maintenance, grounds maintenance, basic housekeeping tasks and general upkeep.

  • Responsible for on call and emergency maintenance service as scheduled.

  • Interacts with residents, vendors and fellow employees in a respectful and professional manner, treating others with dignity and empathy.

  • Works with management to ensure all activities are conducted in compliance with applicable local, state and federal laws.

  • Clear, concise communication with property manager and regional maintenance supervisor on work schedule for assigned sites, purchases, work order and unit turnover status, on-call work and preventative maintenance.

  • Follows all CommonBond safety policies and local, state and federal regulations.

  • Inspects equipment before each use; uses personal protective equipment when necessary.


  • High school graduate or equivalent.

  • 2-year Technical Degree or equivalent preferred

  • Minimum of 1 year maintenance/trades experience

  • Ability to communicate effectively both written and orally

  • Good interpersonal skills

  • Special Boiler License or ability to obtain.

  • Valid driver's license.

  • Must provide own hand tools.

  • Basic computer skills including ability to send and receive emails, enter hours worked on internet based system and access/perform data entry in Microsoft Office products.

  • Access to reliable transportation.

  • Must be able to work on call, weekends and the first and last day of each month; must be available for overtime as is needed.


  • Experience or training in building maintenance such as appliance repair, plumbing, electrical, carpentry and preventative maintenance

  • Willingness to learn and assist above and beyond as part of "the team"

  • Ability to self-direct

  • Good interpersonal skills


  • Ability to stand, walk, reach, climb, bend and kneel

  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds frequently and 50 pounds occasionally

  • Ability to reach above and below the shoulders

  • Ability to use hands and fingers to grasp, twist and pull

  • Withstand external weather conditions such as working outside in the rain, cold, heat or other adverse weather

Position Location: Milwaukee, WI Position Summary Diagnose and repair problems on a variety of process and process support equipment; also performs preventative maintenance as scheduled. This is a first-shift position supporting a 600,000 square foot facility that operates under a Collective Bargaining Agreement. Duties & Responsibilities * Performs a variety of carpentry tasks * Performs a variety of steel work including fabrication and erection of structures * Maintains parking lot surfaces * Performs various types of cleaning (overhead pipes and beams, tanks, etc.) * Direct helpers as necessary * Plans and performs various rearrangements in both office and manufacturing areas * Performs various OSHA inspections * Perform other duties and assist in projects as directed by supervision * Intermediate rigging tasks * Exposure to cranes and lifting equipment in accordance with OSHA standards * Forklift and aerial equipment operation; requires all necessary certifications * Continuous education on industry standards * Supportive and active participation in continuous process improvement * Repair machinery and equipment throughout the facility, occasionally with the aid of a helper(s) * Plan, layout, and perform machining operations to make replacement parts * Operate a wide variety of machine tools * Initiate communications to: procure/repair spare parts; receive technical advice and/or technical documentation necessary to repair, service, or perform maintenance on mechanical equipment * Plan, design, layout, build, and install a wide variety of parts while working with a wide variety of materials * Train other employees Basic Qualifications * High School diploma or equivalent * Ability to use decimals and fractions, simple geometry * Ability to work from complex drawings, sketches, and samples * Ability to use rulers, squares, micrometers, levels, and calipers * Mechanical aptitude and ability to apply mechanical principles to work situations, using machines (such as table saw, drill press, shears, etc.), hand tools and other equipment * 3-5 years' experience in a related field * Adherence to time and attendance policies including flexible work schedule and possible overtime needs. * Timely completion of tasks, positive attitude and professional demeanor, demonstrated ability to work in a team * Active and supportive participation in continuous improvement tasks and maintain a 5S and safe work environment * Basic computer skills such as accessing email, MS Office and internet applications * Perform to expectations for quality and labor charging * Knowledge of basic workplace safety practices * Ability to work independently with instruction from work order system/lead or manager * US Citizenship and ability to obtain a government security clearance, if necessary.
