Position Summary:

The Maintenance Mechanic II will be responsible for general and preventive maintenance activities to support the Waltham facility and its process and utility systems (GMP & non-GMP).

Independent work activities include electrical and mechanical troubleshooting and repairs, performing preventative and predictive maintenance, and coordinating related contractor work.

Areas of Responsibility:

  • Execute corrective and preventive maintenance work requests (troubleshoot, test, repair, and optimize systems and equipment). This includes coordinating multiple trades, laboratory activities, and area ownership.

  • Oversee and escort contractors and suppliers. Review/ approve vendor documentation.

  • Works closely with Quality, EHS, and Operations to ensure strict compliance with GMP guidelines and good documentation practices.

  • Perform daily checks, recording data on log sheets, completing work orders, changing charts, and maintaining records.

  • Organize and maintain inventory of spare parts and supplies.

  • Investigate opportunities for improvement and implement best practices.

  • On-Call and Emergency Response. Respond to a variety of problems that may and do occur. Locate, determine, and correct issues or contact appropriate personnel for assistance. On-call duties respond to emergencies 24 Hours/Day. On-call rotation is usually no more than once per month.

  • Assist other technicians and associates.

Skills/Abilities:

  • Ability to read P&IDs and other engineering documents.

  • Ability to clearly describe technical issues.

  • Good understanding of cGMP, GLP, and FDA requirements for maintenance.

  • Working knowledge and practical experience with the following systems

  • CMMS/EAM systems - Maximo experience is desired.

  • Microsoft Office Programs, including Outlook, Word, and Excel, are required.

  • building monitoring and control systems (BMS/BAS).

  • Physical abilities include but are not limited to, lifting objects to 50lbs, being on feet all day, and climbing steps and ladders as required by the job.

Education and Experience:

  • 3-5 years experience operating and maintaining facility equipment in a GxP setting.

  • High school diploma or Equivalent required.

  • Technical training in facilities operation, service, and facility equipment or systems installation.

  • Experience with general facility systems and equipment such as Cooling Towers, Chillers, Boilers, Air Handlers, Vacuum Pumps, Compressors, etc. Oral Solid Dose process equipment is a plus.

  • Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator License desired.
