Join Goodwill's Maintenance department, where your goal is to ensure that our facilities run safely, efficiently and successfully through the set-up and maintenace of all equipment and operating systems within our Corporate Services division. As a Maintenance Mechanic, you will perform general maintenance work to maintain structures, electrical system, small machines, heating system, plumbing, safe use and knowledge of power tools. Our Mechanics also have an on call rotation of 13 weeks per year with the ability to work evenings and weekends as assigned.


Understand and abides by policies, procedures, and programs. Typically works on projects and tasks that span 1 day 3 months.


  • Project and Change Management: Effectively plans and manages own work to reliably complete routine job responsibilities and special assignments. Follows through on learning, skill building, and practice necessary to adapt to change.

  • Problem Solving: General supervision, with work regularly reviewed by manager or senior coworker. Uses technical skills and knowledge to manage day-to-day tasks.

  • Technical Skill: Practical, working knowledge of tasks, responsibilities, policies and procedures. Able to learn and apply new concepts.

  • Community Engagement: Serves as an ambassador for Goodwill in the wider community. Participates in volunteer opportunities as schedule and interest permit.

  • Dismantle machines or equipment to gain access to defective parts, and repair them using hand tools, including all power tools needed.

  • Repair and replace gauges, valves, pressure regulators and other plumbing equipment.

  • Install electrical equipment and repair or replace wiring and fixtures, performing only those duties for which the employee is qualified.

  • Make and repair counters, benches, partitions and other wooden structures.

  • Use gas welding equipment.

  • Read blueprints, manuals and building codes; use hand tools and carpenters', electricians', and plumbers' tools deemed necessary.

  • Paint walls, floors, woodwork, and replace and repair brick and dry walls.

  • Maintain a safe and orderly work environment.

  • Communicate with Supervisor and Systems Coordinator any issues noted in the field. Effectively utilize Computer Maintenance Management System (CMMS) in accordance with Goodwill Industries of SE WI CMMS processes.

  • Responsible for completing other duties/responsibilities as assigned.


Requirements REQUIREMENTS:
1.Two years of college education or experience equivalency.
2.Valid Wisconsin drivers license.
3.Fork Lift Driver Certification.


Regularly lifts and/or moves up 10 pounds, frequently lifts and/or moves up to 20 pounds, occasionally lifts and/or moves up to 50 pounds. Moves about to accomplish tasks. Lift: Raises objects from lower to higher position or moves objects horizontally. Climb: Moves up or down ladders, stairs, scaffoldings, ramps and the like. Stoop, kneel crouch or crawl: Positions self to retrieve objects. Reach: Extending upwards or downwards to retrieve objects. Worker is subject to weather conditions (hot, humid, dry, cold etc.). Worker is subject to excessive noise. Worker is subject to fumes, smoke or gases Worker is frequently is close quarters, crawl spaces, small enclosed rooms etc. Worker is subject to human blood, body fluids or tissue. Worker is subject to hazards: proximity to dangerous machinery, moving vehicles, electrical currents, chemicals, or high places. Gross and fine motor skills to work on facility projects, travel required.

The position will also complete a variety of special projects that can include but are not limited to concreate repair, construction, painting, and cleaning. <br></p><p><br></p><p><strong>ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES/FUNCTIONS:</strong> </p><ul> <li>Observes mechanical devices in operation and listens to their sounds to locate causes of trouble.</li> <li>Dismantles devices to gain access to and remove defective parts.</li> <li>Examines form and texture of parts to detect imperfections.</li> <li>Inspects used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements.</li> <li>Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments.</li> <li>Repairs or replaces defective parts.</li> <li>Installs special functional and structural parts in devices.</li> <li>Lubricates and cleans parts.</li> <li>Starts devices to test their performance.</li> <li>Sets up and operates lathe, drill press, grinder, and other metalworking tools to make and repair parts.</li> <li>Programs PLC’s. </li> <li>Initiates purchase order for parts and machines.</li> <li>Repairs electrical equipment.</li> <li>Performs maintenance on production and office areas. </li> <li>Perform building upkeep tasks that include but are no limited too painting, sanitation, grounds keeping. </li> <li>Plans, organizes, and executed construction and demolition projects</li> <li>Follows and ensures good manufacturing practices at all times</li> <li>Follows and adheres to the company’s safety program</li> <li>Other duties as assigned. </li> </ul><p><strong>COMPETENCIES:</strong></p><ul> <li>Must be able to adapt to a changing work environment</li> <li>Must have good attendance</li> <li>Ability to train and mentor other team members</li> <li>Must be able to follow instructions and respond to management direction. </li> <li>Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers</li> </ul><p><strong>WORK ENVIRONMENT:</strong></p><p>The employee may be exposed to extreme cold environment.
