Fire alarm technicians are responsible for managing crews during the installation, remodeling, or repair of equipment. This includes upgrading fire alarm systems and installing new equipment for new installations. They must supervise and ensure that their crews stay on schedule and provide quality work. Techs must also know how to read electrical plans/fire alarm plans and should be familiar with current codes/standards. In addition, they are responsible for checking over completed work to ensure that it meets the standards of quality required.
Techs are generally required to have a high school diploma or equivalent, but the most important qualification is relevant work experience. Foremen need to have a fire life safety license from California and at least five years of related work experience. Experience in running crews is a must as well. Their work hours, travel demands and working conditions can vary. Some work must be done at night and/or on the weekends, and foremen may need to travel - depending on the project.
Manage projects from start to finish
Attend job site meetings and create and adhere to schedules. Coordinate with subs, GC's and other trades for scheduled work.
Work with project managers for scheduling, job site needs, mobilization, material orders, daily reports, communicate project milestones/road blocks with PM, OM.
Will work with installation team and local fire marshal to make sure all code requirements are met
Work with fire marshal for code compliance
Work between project teams and other trades and foreman to make sure deadlines are met
Physically capable of lifting 75 lbs unassisted. Be able to climb ladders.
Able to read blueprints and wiring schematics
Assure quality and safety controls/practices that result in a safe work environment and projects that are superior in the quality of installation with zero time loss due to accidents.
Responsible for the care and use of all company issued vehicles, equipment and tools protecting the property from deterioration, damage, theft and see that the property is kept clean and properly maintained.
Assure all necessary materials, tools and equipment for the assigned project/s are ordered.
Coordinate with the Project Manager/Operation Manager on the most efficient and cost effective means of production possible for assigned and special projects.
Other duties may be required.
Keep time for crew and self on a daily basis, schedule crew weekly/daily.
Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience
NICET (National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technology) Certification Requirements to retain position: Level II Fire Alarm Certification within 24 months of hire;
California State Fire Life Safety card required, in good standing
High School diploma or equivalent.
Skilled in the PC applications and in the use of Microsoft Office
Good verbal and written communications skills in English
Individual must possess a valid Driver's license in good standing.

Individual must be at least 21 years of age in order to participate in the required Siemens vehicle plan.
