Maintenance Technician Educational Apprentice

What you will do:
The Maintenance Technician Apprentice will work to develop and utilize technical skills relating to troubleshooting and repair of dairy processing plant equipment, packaging equipment and supporting utility systems and equipment. The apprentice will work with members of the maintenance team while also enrolled in Tillamook Bay Community College's or similar accredited body that has an Industrial Maintenance Technology associate's level degree program.
Here's a day in the life:
Perform highly diversified duties to install and maintain production machines and the plant facility's equipment, including preventive and reactive maintenance, using a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters and material handling equipment in performing duties, complying with safety regulations and maintaining clean and orderly work areas
Provides emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production and performs scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine service
Prepares and set up machinery for scheduled production runs
Performs mechanic skills including, but not limited to, Packaging Mechanical, Refrigeration, PLC/Process Controls, Dairy Systems Mechanic, Electrical, Welding/Fabrication, and General Maintenance; Reads and interprets drawings, equipment manuals, and work orders to perform required maintenance and service
Diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test and make adjustments
Document repair and maintenance tasks in CMMS
Skills you'll need:
High school diploma or GED is required. One to three years related experience and/or an Associate's degree or trade school certification is preferred.
General plant mechanical maintenance history or other mechanical/electrical/equipment experience is preferred.
Ability to understand and apply basic arithmetic and algebra in an industrial setting is required.
Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with employees, supervisors and the general public.
Excellent mechanical aptitude and spatial reasoning ability.
Aptitude to read and understand basic electrical and system schematics, blueprints and P&ID diagrams.
Ability to communicate effectively.
Must be a team player and be able to interact with staff at all levels of the company.
Must be able to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and be flexible in working on multiple projects simultaneously.
Excellent time-management skills with the ability to work independently with little supervision
Must be computer literate with the ability to enter and track information in the CMMS system.
