Critical Reading

Be able to follow instructions, read and understand equipment manuals and procedures. Must be able to pass onboarding reading and comprehension test.

Physical Requirements

Standing continuously for at least 2 3 hours at one time.

Frequent- Lifting, Rotating and Stooping with up to 5 Lbs.

Occasional- Lifting, rotating, and stooping with up to 25 Lbs.

Infrequent- Must be able to lift up to 50 Lbs.

Position Summary

  • Ensure compliance with food safety and GMP requirements for facility

  • Participates in plant QA Systems (SQMS Key Element supporter) and HSE systems (Owns one key element)

  • Performs Hermetic Seam Checks for SCM and EVAP (CCP)

  • Ensure that quality issues are reported to management

  • Must have the ability to balance and achieve positive results in the areas of Safety, Quality, Productivity and Technical Leadership

  • Repair and maintain all processing, filling, and downstream equipment (Can operate and troubleshoot DE palletizers, Case Packers, can and case coders, CASI check weighers, conveyors, Robot, tray formers, case wrappers, pouch case taper, CIP circuits, milk receiving ,sugar receiving, oil receiving, chemical unloading, troubleshoot cream loadouts, troubleshoot cut open

  • Maintain 85% production efficiency and 8% unscheduled downtime for assigned shift

  • Diagnose and resolve issues on programmable controllers, chart recorders and meters through self -directed review of OEM provided materials

  • Troubleshoot, repair and change out of 3 phase motors, wiring and controls, read and understand writing schematics

  • Assist Utility Mechanic in the repair of Ammonia based system valve, piping, glycol plate heat exchange, condensers and receivers, industrial steam boilers, associated water supply and steam distribution.

  • Safety and effectively use acetylene and propane torch for cutting and brazing

  • Recommended measures to improve equipment performance, product, quality, and safety

  • Ensure equipment is free of recognized hazards or that hazards are protected prior to placing the equipment back in operation

  • Responsible to be directly involved and committed to see any repairs through and ensure the plant has appropriate support needed to minimize down time. Production and Efficiency requirements may at times require extended hours to ensure all repairs are completed accurately and in a timely manner.

  • Ensure all trouble calls in you area are investigated, documented, and communicated in an accurate and timely manner. Trouble call documentation is to be recorded on M+ work orders.

  • Keep area clean at all times

  • Assist and completes as required on BOS, Shift Indicator, Risk Prediction and Confined space entry programs.

  • Attend and participate in regularly scheduled informational meetings (i.e. pre-shift meetings).

  • Maintain a positive work environment that encourage teamwork

  • Complete all tasks assigned to you

  • Assist the training of other maintenance personnel and operators

  • Analyze and report potential Machine problems

  • Maintain and follow quality aspects such as perform seam checks (Evap & SCM), review documentation records, explain CCP's (Evap & SCM), follow seal procedure protocol on chart recorders, comply with reg tag and temporary release programs.

  • Complete all assigned Work Orders by due date

  • Order and check out all parts from eAM inventory system and ensure all part checked are accounted for on eAM

  • Complete jobs on the work list on spare time

These activities include scheduled preventive maintenance and emergency / break down repairs. 0.2 Maintenance technicians report to the maintenance supervisor and maintenance lead person. 1.0 Primary maintenance technician duties / responsibilities include: 1.1 - following all safety rules and practices; 1.2 - performing preventive maintenance activities such as lubricating, measuring wear, measuring positions, repositioning components; and observing operations, vibrations, and noise levels; 1.3 - performing emergency / break down maintenance as necessary to support plant operations; 1.4 - referencing equipment manuals and other technical literature; 1.5 - working with vendors and subcontractors to achieve desired results; 1.6 - accurately using measurement and test equipment; 1.7 - performing electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, steam system, and other repairs and installations as needed; 1.8 - safely operating the boiler and maintaining adequate operating steam pressure 1.9 - maintaining clean and organized work areas, and cleaning up work areas as part of completing assigned tasks; 1.10 - accurately and completely preparing and maintaining maintenance records and other paperwork; 1.11 - trouble-shooting and solving problems; 1.12 - maintaining teamwork with other associates; 1.13 - keeping supervision informed of problems and/or unusual situations; 1.14 - performing other duties as assigned by supervision. 2.0 Qualifications for maintenance technicians are the ability to perform the duties / responsibilities of the job with or without accommodation; the ability to read, write, and speak English; the ability to accurately use and read a variety of measuring devices; well-rounded electrical, mechanical, and machine shop skills and experience; the ability to learn; and the ability to follow instructions, ask questions, and work effectively as a member of a team. 2.1 The maintenance supervisor evaluates maintenance technician qualifications.
