POSITION TITLE: Maintenance Technician

SUPERVISOR: Facilities Director

DATE: 9/21/2018

SUMMARY

Under general direction from the Facilities Director, the maintenance technician participates in the work of assigned building trades in the maintenance, repair, and improvement of District facilities. These tasks include, but are not limited to, general construction practices, landscaping, snow removal, mechanical work and assisting with HVAC and electrical tasks.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordinates work with different trades within the District staff

  • Provides repair support for all facilities, vehicles, and equipment

  • Maintains records, provides reports, documents work activities

  • Provides quality control measures for shop work, recommendations for shop procedures, and equipment purchases

  • Performs skilled and semi skilled maintenance, repair and shop related tasks in support of District maintenance plan

  • Confers with Facilities Director regarding work schedule, project priorities, planning, and equipment material needs

MISCELLANEOUS

  • Other related duties as required

REQUIREMENTS

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Valid drivers license

  • Two years experience in structural or mechanical trades or any combination of training and experience that would provide required knowledge

  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees

  • Effective communications skills

  • Ability to interpret written instructions and/or oral instructions

  • Maintain a high level of confidentiality

  • Work independently and make judgments within the scope of respective job duties

  • Ability to learn and accomplish tasks with minimum supervision

  • Knowledge of methods, materials, and equipment used in maintenance and repair of structural and mechanical building systems

  • Basic safety practices related to building trades

  • Determine priorities, schedule work, maintain files

  • Physically able to operate a variety of jobs related machines

  • Physically able to move or carry job related objects or materials

  • Compare, interpret, and/or judge data

  • Draw daily operational conclusions and solve practical problems

  • Learn and understand subject matter principles

  • Make independent judgment within the scope of related job duties

  • Utilize mathematical skills such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and determine percentages

  • Interact with people (staff, supervisors, general public, elected officials)

  • Adaptable to performing under minimal stress in the event of an emergency

  • Understand , carry out and give oral and written instructions

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls

  • Reach with hands and arms

  • Occasionally required to sit, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl

  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 100 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds

  • Vision abilities include close and distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus

The FST provides customer service in all aspects and represents the company to our clients. The FST is responsible for servicing, maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, installing and commissioning water treatment equipment (reverse osmosis, deionization water systems, general water treatment equipment) at customer locations throughout New England. The FST is also responsible for operation of in-house process equipment.</p> <p> </p> <p>This position will have a typical work schedule of Monday-Friday, with fairly regular after-hours responsibilities, to include some overnight stays, weekends and holidays.</p> <p> </p> <p><strong>Knowledge and Skill Requirements:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Technical degree such as Environmental, Civil, Mechanical, and/or Chemical Engineering, or certification in electrical work, plumbing, or similar field is preferred, but not required</li> <li>Knowledge of water treatment processes, technologies, and chemistry is preferred</li> <li>At least two (Level II) to four (Level III) years  directly related experience in installation, repair, and maintenance of industrial equipment</li> <li>At least two years of experience in electrical, plumbing, or related technical field is preferred</li> <li>Hands-on experience testing and repairing technical equipment</li> <li>Experience with PLC programming or troubleshooting is preferred</li> <li>Must be able to manage the transport and delivery of heavy tanks and equipment on a regular basis using suitable hand trucks, lift gates and related industrial material handling equipment</li> <li>Excellent customer service and communication skills</li> <li>Self-motivated and organized</li> <li>Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities</li> <li>Must be willing and able to work an after-hours on-call schedule, to include some overtime, weekends, and holidays</li> <li>Willingness and availability to travel and maintain a flexible work schedule</li> <li>A valid driver’s license and clean driving record</li> <li>Must be able to pass a DOT physical</li> </ul> Pure Flow Peterborough NH
