Purpose of Your Position

As a Consulate Health Care Maintenance Tech, the primary purpose of your job position is to maintain the grounds, facility, and equipment in a safe and efficient manner in accordance with current applicable federal, state, and local standards, guidelines and regulations.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Coordinate daily maintenance services with nursing services when performing routine assignments in resident living areas.

  • Perform preventive maintenance inspections and tasks as scheduled.

  • Assist with all repairs, refurbishing projects, and furniture/equipment moving.

  • Maintain the facility grounds

  • Ensure maintenance supplies have been replenished in work areas as necessary.

  • Ensure that the facility and its equipment are properly maintained for resident comfort and convenience.

  • Report equipment malfunctions or breakdowns to your supervisor as soon as possible.

  • Ensure that equipment is cleaned and properly stored at the end of the shift

  • Assist with safety inspections, tests, and drills, as requested.

  • May be trained and assigned to perform the Customer Care Liaison duties as needed.

Education and Experience

Must possess, as a minimum, a high school diploma or equivalent. Two years experience as a building trade helper, apprentice or equivalent preferred.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Constructs and maintains drainage systems, sidewalks, road restoration, bridges, ditches and sea walls. Uses electrical, gas-powered and hand tools, including but not limited to chainsaws, rakes, shovels and hammers to perform daily tasks. Uses chemicals and cleaners. Performs traffic control duties through the use of signals (i.e., flagging, stop signs, and yield signs). Cleans equipment and tools, and maintains cleanliness and order in storage areas. Reports equipment malfunctions and maintenance needs to supervisor. Removes nuisance items from county property areas (i.e., litter, beaver dams). Operates front-end loaders, tractors and riding mowers as needed. Performs grounds maintenance tasks (i.e., mowing, trimming, edging, watering, fertilizing). Must be able to meet work schedule and attendance standards. Performs related duties as required. MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or GED preferred. Road maintenance or outside laborer experience preferred. Must possess a valid driver license. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS OR STANDARDS REQUIRED TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Physical Requirements: Must be physically able to operate a variety of hand held and electrical equipment and tools, and light to medium duty construction vehicles. Must be able to exert in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, or 20 to 50 pounds frequently, or 10 to 20 pounds to constantly lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Physical demands are in excess of those for sedentary work; must be able to perform manual tasks and remain on feet for extended periods of time. May be subject to a significant degree of danger or risk to due to extended periods of exposure to outside atmospheric conditions (i.e., rain, extreme heat or cold, high humidity), traffic conditions, working near heavy machinery and the use of chemicals/toxic agents in performing essential functions. May be subject to irate citizens, confined spaces, insects, reptiles, spiders and vegetation. Data Conception: Requires the ability to compare and/or judge the readily observable, functional, structural or compositional characteristics (whether similar to or divergent from obvious standards) of roadways, tools and equipment utilized, and documentation. Interpersonal Communication: Requires the ability of speaking and/or signaling people to convey or exchange information; includes receiving assignments, instructions and/or directions from supervisors.
