ATI Huntsville is seeking a Maintenance Technician to join our team. If you are looking for an opportunity to support a growing, world-class manufacturing company with multiple manufacturing operations, then this position is for you!

Applicants for this position must have a sound mechanical and electrical aptitude with extensive experience in maintenance within a manufacturing environment. Position will be under general supervision to repair and maintain industrial machinery and ensure equipment is performing safely to required specifications.

Basic Position Responsibilities

  • Manuals
  • Read manuals to understand equipment and controls.
  • Drawings -- Read and interpret equipment drawings and schematics.

  • Tools

  • Use air tools, electric tools, lathes, milling machines, multi-meters, welding and metal burning equipment.
  • Machinery -- Disassemble/reassemble equipment for maintenance and repairs.

  • Precision Machining -- Perform tests, adjust, calibrate and operate machinery to ensure optimal performance.

  • Machine Automation Theory -- Specify, program, install and troubleshoot Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs). Specify, setup and install AC, DC and Variable Frequency Drives (VFD).

  • Welding -- Perform essential welding and cutting to repair equipment or to fabricate new.

  • Electrical -- Understand industrial electrical theory, components, and systems.

  • Hydraulic and Pneumatic Systems -- Fundamental theories and practical application.

  • Safety

  • Strong emphasis on safety practices. Identify unsafe conditions and correct.
  • Records
  • Maintain records of preventative maintenance and repairs.
  • Lifting & Rigging -- Practical application and safe operation of lifting equipment.

  • Math -- Practical understanding of industrial maintenance mathematics.

  • National Electric Code

  • Understand and apply the NEC to daily activities and be familiar with NFPA70E.
  • Fabrication -- Construction and modification of equipment from drawings and prints.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent education.

  • 3+ years multi-craft (mechanical/electrical) work experience in a high volume manufacturing environment.

  • Sound organization skills with the ability to self-manage routine and major project assignments.

  • Experience with mechanical components: couplings, bearings, gear boxes, spindles, ball screws, bearing chocks, etc.

  • Diagnose and repair equipment; mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic.

  • Basic AC/DC certification and can interpret Electrical Ladder Drawings.

  • Welding and Pipe Fitting experience.

  • Knowledge of lubrication techniques and applications.

  • Knowledge and experience working in MS Office.

  • Strong problem solving and communication skills.


Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to climb ladders.

  • Must be able to walk, climb, lift, push, and pull.

  • Must be able to show the ability to safely wear fall arrest protection.

  • The work is typically performed in a heavy industrial environment with high levels of noise, dust, heat and cold conditions.

Physical and Sensory Requirements (With or without the aid of Mechanical Devices): Must be able to move intermittently throughout the work day; must be able to speak and write the English language in an understandable manner; must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position; must possess sight/hearing senses or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately so that the requirements of this position can be fully met; must function independently and have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with the residents, resident's family members and coworkers; must meet the general health requirements set for the by the policies of this facility; must be able to push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of 20 lbs and maximum of 50 lbs and be able to push, pull, move and/or carry such weight for reasonable distances; may be necessary to assist in the evacuation fo residents during emergency situations.
