The Neighborhoods at St. Elizabeth Rehabilitation and Nursing Center provides a comprehensive array of individualized rehabilitation and nursing services, including short-term rehabilitation, skilled nursing care, memory care and in-patient hospice care.

Catholic Charities, St. Elizabeth Rehabilitation and Nursing Center is currently seeking a Maintenance Technician, who is a vital part of the support staff, responsible for maintaining a safe and comfortable environment for elders and staff alike. Duties include performing specialized and general repair tasks as assigned, as well as completing all preventative maintenance tasks to uphold the facility's standards of safety and comfort. The work schedule is Monday - Friday and every third weekend.

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform daily repairs and preventive maintenance tasks as outlined in work orders and schedules; document all maintenance activities as assigned.

  • Conduct preventative maintenance, general repairs across all facility areas, and maintain departmental equipment in good working order, promptly reporting any malfunctions to the supervisor.

  • Collect and empty trash cans daily, sanitizing them as necessary.

  • Perform routine cleaning of carpets (deep and spot cleaning) and hard floor areas including stairwells, elevator, bathrooms, hallways, lobby, activity dayroom, and dining areas as scheduled or necessary.

  • Clean windows both inside and outside, including lobby, patio, and balconies.

  • Ensure cleanliness of loading dock and trash room.

  • Clean and disinfect elevator doors and tracks.

  • Maintain cleanliness of the front and parking lot by blow-vacuuming.

  • Assist with furniture moving as requested.

  • Prioritize safety by adhering to proper procedures to prevent injury to staff, residents, and property.

  • Handle chemicals, detergents, and solutions safely and in accordance with OSHA guidelines. Attend mandatory program meetings and training sessions.

  • Interact with residents and families courteously and empathetically; uphold professional behavior aligned with the mission of Catholic Charities and the program when interacting with residents, staff, families, and the public.

  • Perform other duties as assigned

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School diploma or GED required with at least three years' experience in institutional maintenance.

  • Demonstrated knowledge to perform technical maintenance duties such as carpentry, electricity, plumbing, heating at a specialized level.

CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE:

  • Must be certified in CPR and/or First Aid within six months of employment.

REQUIRED SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Good verbal communication skills to interact with residents, families, and staff in a respectful and professional manner.

  • Capacity to work well within a team environment and collaborate with other staff members to maintain a clean and safe environment.

  • Ability to follow instructions plus a willingness to apply and perform these duties in keeping with the standards of the facility.

  • Thorough knowledge of safety hazards and proper use of various cleaning and sanitizing solutions.

  • Effective time management skills to complete duties efficiently, requiring minimum supervision and working independently 80% of the time.

  • Develop a basic working knowledge of systems maintenance under supervision.   • Ability to utilize, or willingness to learn computer systems and software, necessary to perform position functions (basic computer, web browsing, online training, and email usage skills).

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Provide on-call and weekend maintenance coverage as scheduled.

  • Must be physically able to perform all required duties related to maintenance work, including the ability to use electric, pneumatic and hand tools, climb ladders over 30 feet in height, lift objects over 100 pounds regularly throughout the day, and bend and crawl in close spaces.

  • Hearing and vision abilities within normal range (corrected) to observe and communicate with others.
