Supports the day to day operation of the facility by continuously working to repair any equipment issues that arise. Continuously drives to improve operations by identifying any and all opportunities for upgrades to the electrical equipment.

  • Installation, maintenance, inspection, troubleshoot and repair machinery/equipment to include: mechanical, electrical, hydraulics, lubrication, PMs, welding, etc.

  • Perform PMs

  • Perform building maintenance

  • Operate industrial powered equipment

  • Proficiently troubleshoots and repairs any equipment issues, particularly associated with electrical items. Collaborates with colleagues to understand the root cause of the issue to ensure that repairs and corrections prevent the issue from repeating.

  • Proactively seeks to improve existing electrical wiring and systems.

  • Collaboratively works with fellow maintenance colleagues to improve the entire maintenance program. Consistently works with colleagues to increase maintenance knowledge in the facility.

  • Ensures that all electrical wiring and systems are up to code and are maintained in accordance with EHS procedures.

  • Cross train other employees as required

  • All other duties as assigned

Required Skills

  • Must have certification /degree from approved Industrial Electrical / Mechanical training program.

  • Will be required to obtain certification to operate powered industrial equipment.

  • Moderate to heavy physical effort (lift/carry up to 50 lbs with assist).

  • Prolonged, extensive, or considerable standing/walking.

  • Lift supplies/equipment.

  • Pushes/pulls or moves/ lifts heavy equipment/supplies, with assist depending on weight.

  • Manual dexterity and mobility.

  • Considerable reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching

  • Far Acuity: ability to see clearly at 20 feet or more.

  • Near Acuity: ability to see clearly at 20 inches or less.

  • Depth Perception: ability to judge distance and space relationships.

  • Field of Vision: ability to see peripherally.

  • Accommodation: ability to adjust vision to bring objects into focus.

  • Color vision: ability to distinguish and identify different colors.

  • Extreme Heat exposure when working around table, furnace, etc.

  • Temperature change: variations in temperature from hot to cold depending on weather.

  • Noise: sufficient noise to cause distraction or possible hearing loss.

  • Hazards: conditions where there is danger to life, body and/or health.

Responsibilities * Performs vehicle maintenance and repair duties including: * Performs standard vehicle maintenance * Performs preventive maintenance * Diagnoses complex mechanical and electronic problems utilizing diagnostic computer when applicable * Completes complex and detailed mechanical inspections & repairs with minimal supervision * Replaces defective components as instructed * Works unsupervised on most tasks * Performs facility maintenance duties * Interacts with customers/drivers to properly determine nature of complaint once assigned a task. * Utilizes key functions of Shop Management System and electronic documentation available. * Works in accordance with all federal/ provincial and corporate compliance guidelines (i.e., safety, DOT, MOT). * Acts as mentor for Tech 1 and Tech 2 levels. * Demonstrate the ability to access and use internal and external maintenance documents. * Other support duties as required to support operations. These could include but are not limited to Service Island support * SBTIII trained within 180 days (SBT220) * Complete 2 of the OEM On-Line diagnostic scan tool software courses as required by location fleet mi.
