Description

The Utility Supply Maintenance (USM) Technician is responsible for successfully executing work orders, tasks, trouble calls, and projects as directed by the PSM Supervisor in the following areas: city water supply, R.O. water supply, soft water supply, boilers and condensate, hot water generation, compressed air systems, nitrogen generation, chillers and cooling towers, co-generation, and backup power systems. The USM technician supports all PSM activities associated with the 3A PSM qualification role as a secondary function and as a member of the PSM team. The USM Technician is also responsible for successfully supporting and applying process and training that have been designed to develop his/her growth opportunities and as well for always ensuring a safe and secure work environment that operates in compliance with SOP's, GNP's.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Primary work scope includes, but is not limited to, plant start up, boiler tending, makeup water treatment, plumbing, pipe fitting and welding, fabrication using different materials ranging from welding of structural steel and stainless steel.

• Able to work with no more than 50% supervision and to be a self-starter willing to make decisions limited to the job activities.

• Mechanical skill in working with hand tools for mechanical disassembly and assembly.

• Mechanical knowledge of boilers, steam and condensate systems, culinary and sanitary steam systems, hot water generation, compressed air systems, nitrogen generators, chillers and cooling towers, reverse osmosis, water softeners and cogeneration

• Welding to include flame cutting, plasma cutting, stick, MIG, and TIG

• Mechanical knowledge of steam reducing stations traps and condensate pumps.

• Trouble-shooting competence in related subject matter.

• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Education and/or Experience:

• High school diploma with at least 2 - 5 years' experience in an industrial mechanical position

• Maintenance repair in food processing or related field experience in a like Industry.

• Experienced in troubleshooting of steam and condensate recovery systems.

• Working knowledge of boilers, air compressors, cooling towers and chillers.

• WCM experience is an added value.

• Added Value

• Computerized Service Maintenance Management Software (CSMM) knowledge in an Industrial application

• PLC programming and troubleshooting of programs.

• Electrical and PLC documentation reading and writing.

• Safe working knowledge related to electrical and mechanical activities

• Computer Applications knowledge for Word, spreadsheets, and charting.

• Experience in a Self-Directed team environment highly desirable

• Training in electrical, electronics and programmable logic controllers.

• Experience variable frequency drives and motion control.

• Analog and digital circuitry.

Additional Compensation - Bonus Potential: You will be eligible to participate in the Gehl Food & Beverage Bonus Program for non-exempt employees. Under this Program, quarterly and annual bonus payouts are based on achievement of targeted production numbers. Gehl Foods, LLC reserves the right to change the Bonus Program at anytime, without notice.

Working Conditions: Frequently exposed to wet and varying temperature conditions between 60-130 degrees Fahrenheit, loud noise, vibration, moving machinery/electrical parts, risk of electrical shock, airborne particles, high/precarious places, toxic/caustic chemicals, allergens including soy, milk and milk by-products and fumes from food processing equipment.
