HVAC Systems Specialist
UnityPoint Health- Fort Dodge
FTE: 1.0 (Full Time Benefits, 40 hours per week)
Shifts: Monday-Friday 7:00a-3:30p; every 5th week/weekend and some holidays
Under the direction of the Building and Grounds Supervisor, this position requires knowledge of all the electro-mechanical systems of the hospital and its outbuildings. It also requires an expert knowledge in the areas of hardware application, networking, troubleshooting, programming and commissioning the hospitals building automation system. The incumbent must have knowledge of graphic programming language, ladder logic, and HVAC pro software applications. Knowledge of safety equipment to maintain these systems as well as safety equipment used in health care facilities. This incumbent will work from blueprints and use and maintain hand and power tools. The position requires that the incumbent follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for construction projects, corrective maintenance, and preventative maintenance.

Responsibilities
This position has considerable knowledge of and is responsible for the installation, preventative maintenance, trouble shooting and repair of all kinds and types of HVAC equipment and systems. Coordinates, trains, monitors the work of others and performs the work of an HVAC technician and other skilled work of considerable difficulty. This position completes regulatory documentation reports related to HVAC systems. This position will rotate being on-call. Must meet requirements for on call which includes a 30-minute response time from activation/call to hospital.
Qualifications
Education:
High school graduate or GED equivalent required.
Some supervisory experience is desirable.
Diploma or certificate from a two-year technical school or recognized equivalent correspondence course in HVAC or 10 years' experience working in the HVAC field preferred.
Experience:
4 years working in the maintenance and/or repair field required.
4 or more years working in the healthcare maintenance field preferred.
License(s)/Certification(s):
Valid driver's license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Must be able to read and understand written and verbal instructions.
Must demonstrate the ability to learn to solve complex problems under minimal supervision.
Must demonstrate the ability to utilize blueprints, schematics, air flow hoods, and measuring and testing equipment to solve problems of considerable difficulty and to verify proper functioning and operation of equipment, systems, or facilities.
Must learn regulations, codes, and standards related to Health Care HVAC requirements.
